Thumbs up Auto Trapster - Automatic Trapster Downloader - 27SEP09

This will automatically download trapster files with the option to import the trapster POI information in to my Speed Zone pluggin for RR.
Let me know what you think...
Read the readme.txt to help with setup..
EDIT the autotrap.ini using notepad or a text editor as needed
Always back up your Zones.CSV file, ZLST.TXT file and your ZONESDATA folder before upgrading or updating.
These files contain your zone data.

It's pretty easy

MAJOR UPDATE
-Will update speed cams and speed traps automatically.
-Laptop Mode - Checks your laptop battery to make sure you have enough charge to complete the operation
-Compares file dates so that automatic updates do not occur if an update was already done in the same day.
-Waits Up To 20 seconds for an internet connection to become available
Attached Files
File Type: zip AutoTrapster-27SEP2009.zip (742.8 KB, 30 views)

I edited the ini file with my credz. Seems to be a problem with the logging in.
No matter what i do, it always says incorrect UID/PWD.

I tried my credz online and works no problem.

Just found that the download was missing some key HTML files.
Download from the new link in the first post of this thread. The problem should be solved now.

Be aware that the zone list building process takes a while. Once started go take a nap. It will take about an hour (at least on my machine, not a power house).
Let me know how it works for you?

Faster way of doing it also is to copy the downloaded trapster zones file to the speedzone folder.
Then run setup and just press the High, Low or Medium confidence buttons under the Trapster Import Section.
This seems to work a ton faster.
The Auto Trapster finds Duplicates of Zones or Zones that are close to each other and removes them (this is what takes so much time). This is to prevent Reporting Two or Three types of zones in one area. This would get annoying if you set a Speed trap in the same area trapster allready listed one.
But both ways will work fine.

RENAME you downloaded trapster file TO Trapster.CSV then copy it to the speedzone folder.
DO NOT COPY OVER YOUR ZONES.CSV. This is you main zones file you will lose all your old zone settings if you do.
Instead back it up.

Very nice...works perfectly now!

One thing though. You may or may not see this on your PC. I guess it depends on the service pack you have on XP or IE securtiy update.

During the download process, just as the file is about to be saved. A security box pops up asking to OPen, Save or Cancel the file.
Similar to what you would normally see if your trying to download something directly from IE web browser.
Anyway. You have to manually click on save for the process to proceed.
After that its all automatic again.

You may want to look into it if your plannig to incorporate it into the main product.

I haven't try this yet. But there could be a simple solution.
Checking the file associations and making "save" by default, instead of prompt.

Ill look in to it. I know it does this on my computer as well, but not all the time. It does look for this window to pop up but does not allways catch it. It is looking for a specific text in the window and I think that window may have to be activated.
Anyway, this is just a quick throw together program and Im sure there could be improvements.
I will keep working with it, but for now it does what it should (sometimes).
