LinuxICE2 app/plugin development

Is there any interest for anyone in developing/porting their plugin for LinuxICE? Now is a good time before we go Release-Canidate-Stage to get support added for your plugin.

LinuxICE supports plugins in native c++ (nghost plugin), python, php, .NET (2.0 and most 3.5), and just about any language you can imagine. If there is enough interest in .NET, I will write a native plugin loader for nGhost.

We want to support LinuxICE 2.0 for a year providing updates. If you want your app/plugin in the LinuxICE repository, speak up and we'll help you get it in the repo so users can find it and install it easily.

Otherwise, people will download and install LinuxICE, realize that it doesn't have XYZ that they love in RR and go back to the slower XP system.

So VB6 isn't supported then

Is it possible to do an app/plugin in VB.net (2.0), if so I might be able to look into porting my plugins over.

However they will not be open source.

Oh and I might need a lot of hand holding to get it working

they won't be open source, but if you're concerned about intellectual property, be aware that languages like .net and java are easily reverse engineered. if you want to make it more difficult then use obfuscation.

Any compiled .NET app will work. I'll write the nGhost .NET plugin interface and licence it LGPL so closed .NET plugins will work.

Most of the OpenICE components are GPLv2+. The newer nGhost3 stuff (which won't be in LinuxICE2) is LGPLv2.

I have no problem LGPL'ing an interface to get more plugins on the system. nGhost2 plugins are very similar to revFE plugins.
