Top Secret Interface **UPDATE**
Well after four month of coding and procrastination the interface (code name Fairlady) is about 85% done.
Currently here are the functions:
MP3 player. Uses Folders as playlist
Music Video / Movie Player. Uses Folders as Playlist
DVD Player. Will play DVD's, VCD's, MP3, and/or Video. *must have dvd software already install to play DVD's.
GPS Nav launcher. Given the different GPS setup out there, decide to launch installed program rather than embed one.
Camera. Uses webcam.
Cell Phone Interface. Uses AT command compatible cell phones. Loads stored phonebook.
Everything list is also voiced command. Still have to work on switch between webcams and error trapping before its finished (but sooo close )
Here are a few screen shots, will make a video demo when finished.
Default Screen:
Menu:
MP3 Player (M):
Video Player Menu (V):
Music Video (Videos):
Camera's Menu (C):
Rear view Camera: *pointed at the screen
and Lastly
Cell Phone (#):
Once again the Alphared symbol will NOT be in the program.
Hopefully I can get this done in a few weeks. I'll be looking for 3-4 beta tester to work out the bugs and test it in everyday situation.
Don't pm me with request. Email to betatester@taylormacintosh.com , if you are interested.
Include system you have, os, experience, location and don't forget name.
Require OS would be win98 and up, 600mHz and a connection to the internet.
Beta testers will get a full working version after testing for free. As far as price, have not decided yet, but will not be more than 40. (I'll let the beta testers decide on a fair one)
Sorry for the long post but just excited that I'm almost finish

But I don't think people like to pay for this kind of software...
=> remember cobra?
Any way your interface are looking great and why not a donate or sharware concept...

Wasn't here early enough for cobra. From what I've read, the guy built it with help from people here and then went commercial. I haven't done that. I haven't set a price yet or offer it for sale, so its not set yet. I'll let people here decide if they want it or not.

Thanks, but if you had spent more than five month coding and rendering 3d images and sort, would you just post it out and give it away?

Yes...
Anyway perhaps a demo version or a time limited version...
Beacause screenshoot are not enough...
For cobra the only help was user feedback!
Sorry for my aggression.

No offense but I would NOT pay for this software.
Remember the problem with charging for software, is that the day you launch it, I would venture out and say a WEEK after you will find some type of crack for it.

too add on to that.. there really isn't a big market to charge money for a app like this.. but thats just me. There are so many other alternatives out there, you have to make a killer app to get people to pay for it.

If someone wants to sell their software, that is their choice. It is your intelectual property and you have every right to do so.
If you don't want to buy it, don't.
Alphared spent a lot of time working on this. He has created a unique interface with little to no assistance from anyone here. He stated "no more than 40" sounds more than fair to me.
A limited (by some means be it featurs or time expiration) demo might be in order though.. I hate paying for things.. especially software.. if i've never seen them in action.
good luck

Jeeez, $40 that much?
C'mon guys get the coal out of your butt, it's turning into a diamond!
IMHO it's looking really good, the video on the shots looks a bit small, but its all under development.
Whilst spending money on hardware and getting decent kit is good, it's the software that makes an application. If it aint easy to use and looks good when why bother in the first place. Anyone with an empeg will till you why it's so much better than any of the other commercial in dash mp3 solutions.
$40 is hardly a bit chunk of what a screen, motherboard, cpu, snd/vga/network/wifi/hard drive must have cost you.

Make a demo. You tell us to get the coal out of out butts... and the only reason is some screen shots? Game makers realized this doesnt work too well a long *** time ago.
And besides, not everyone here is a yankee. $40US = a buttload in canadian.

ShinkunoNamida and thenominous, thanks for the support. Like I said, Its only 85% done. Will make a Video demo to show it's function when I'm done. To create a 'limited time demo' will require me to do extra coding and testing. If you want to see how it works, sign up to be a beta tester.
If you read, I haven't set any price yet. I said no more than 40. Really some of us paid 10 times that for copilot and 40 is alot? Plus remember I'm a member here too, so there is always a discounted price for members here.
As for cracking this software, there is no need. This will be custom made for the user. So when she speak, it'll be your name. Her name will be decide by the user when they purchase (I picked Fairlady because of my car). So if theres a copy floating around on the net, everyone will know who uploaded.
True, I don't like to pay for software either. But I do. If nobody would pay for software, there would be no software made.
I did not make this with the intention of selling it. I did it because I wanted a killer interface for my pc setup. I've spent alot to make the PC and spent alot of time making this to make my system one of the best. I offer to sell it to see if anyone wants it. If you don't fine, no one is forcing you to buy it. If you want free you can dl mediaengine or autoplay. I'm selling this because there are more that I want to add to this, but exhausted on resources to get more hardware.

I think this software looks promising, and I don't generally pay for software. But if this can do the things u say it will do and do it well, it would be well worth it. G-net sells they're average looking, and what I have gathered from other post, average working dashboard software for $45 usd. And I know a lot of our fellow carputerers bought it. What makes a killer app is it's useability by people with all types of different hardware. And I for one thank u for putting in the time and effort to develop something for us involved in this hobby, because we can sure bet it won't be coming from microsoft or any others as cheap as $40.

What you said sounded a lot like:
"I wouldnt pay for it because it doesnt look very good".
You didnt really express that you were not interested, in fact come to think of it, why go out of your way to say you dont want to buy it if you aint interested!??

Let the man make his money. He put the time and effort into it, people shouldn't be cheap and rip off his software. I for one would be happy to pay for an interface that sounds and looks as good as this, course I would hope to see GPS intergrated. Any chance of this happening in further updates?

Skinable as well ? I am curious - do you have a WAV file with a sample of the voice - I am intrested in how it sounds. Can you have more than one app working with it - ie two diffrent GPS apps ?
What else are you planning for it ? How does it compair with ME - will it do the same etc etc ?
And as for making money - Not sure about the price how ever he has spent the time creating this it up to him how much its worth. At the end of the day as long as it does what I want and is updated and supported on a regular basis I would be willing to hand over some cash - perfably on a once paid - always get updates like Winzip.
