I need a video player that crops out the black bars while playing.

I have some DivX movies that was encoded with 4:3 ratio but the movie is in 16:9 format. It has black bars on top and bottom of the video. Are there any video players that'll crop the black bars out of the video while it's playing. I dont want to re-encode the movie cuz it'll degrade the quality of the video. I also need one that'll play SVCD. Power DVD XP will crop DVD and VCD movies but won't crop SVCD on its Pan&scan feature. I have a 7" Xenarc running on 848X480. With out the crop, I have about 1-1.5" of black bars around the movie.

i like the bars. but not on a dinky 7". I wouldn't use Virtualdub, encoding takes a while. Use meyer64's suggestion

Please read my original post more carefully. I dont want to re-encode the movie because the movie is already in DivX. If I use vdub to re encode the movie again, it would make the quality even worse. I need a DivX player that has pan&scan feature built in. I also need one that'll pan &scan SVCD too. Power DVD XP will crop DVD and VCD movies but won't crop SVCD on its Pan&scan feature. I have a 7" Xenarc running on 848X480. With out the crop, I have about 1-1.5" of black bars around the movie.

hmm. You'll have better luck if you ask/look over at www.divx-digest.com

Just use Zoom Player, has about 8 aspect ration options and one of them is customizable. Also you can adjust vertical and horizontal zooms separately, once you have it all the way you want just save it as a preset for widescreen movies. Zoom Player is the most customizable player that I have ever seen. I just need to get around to making a touchscreen skin for it. Good luck finding your solution.

I finally found it. http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Players/mpc2kxp6458.zip This is a classic WMP. I guess it's been reworked. It has so many re-sizing and cropping options that it'll allow you to use any wide screen LCD displays like Xenarcs and digitalWWs with 4:3 windows display VGA or SVGA and the video still looks like correct aspect ratios. A single click on the screen pauses the video. double click enters or exits full screen. This is great, exactly what im looking

well, go to doom9.org and download mplayerc then, it could easily replace the entire mpeg/avi/dvd/.mov section of any incar app
