APX Beta.93 available (more stable .95 later on tonight)

Hi everybody,

I hi-jacked my own thread (ccsnet's comment below may look funny!) !

The APX Beta.93 is available now for download (well, as soon as the FTP finishes!).

Unfortunately I'm off to a party for the rest of the evening, so I won't be able to provide any assistance for those of you playing with the app (if you choose to do so now).

I will make a stance and say that you _must_ follow the pre-beta checklist and post back to the thread (a few above/below) before I provide any sort of assistance. If you have questions about the pre-beta checklist, please fire away!

This build is experiencing some fairly severe screen redraw problems (naturally it works fine on my computer, which is always good for a head scratch), but is functionally intact. On some computers the playlists don't seem to draw at all, but you can touch them to activate files! WMP9 users may have to cycle through their Playlists (the ugly button marked "Playlist") as WMP generates a great deal of "auto-playlists", often with no files in them ...

I've also crippled external APP execution - see release notes for details (on the website).

DVD playback is unaffected by these problems and appears superb on my slow laptop!

The for the download is

http://www.ixiomsoftware.com/apx/beta.93.zip

There is no current install - just unzip all the files to a directory, and double click the APX.exe file.

Please check the site for release notes and known issues.

Remember this is an early stage beta - I've only been working on this for about a week and a half! Please be kind

I'll check back in here around midnight EST to answer any questions.

PreBetaChecklist: DONE
OS: Win XP
Player: Windows Media Player 9
Notes:I had everything already, but I also have numerous DVD software, and MS Access software installed.

Having those screen redraw problems. When I select MP3, the "pie style" menu doesn't go away, and just chills there on top. And the playlists are not drawn at all.

I am on a Nvidia vid. card with latest detonator drivers.

unrealer - yeah, I'm aware under certain cards it's pretty nasty - I'm going to "slow" down some of the processing, to keep the screen in place - but I'm off to a party now - will have to wait until tomorrow!

Most of the issues have been resolved that I had posted.

Thus, the pictures are now removed.

Thank you for visiting your local Wal-Mart Superstore.....

frodo - seems to be missing all the background images - one of the optimizations is to knock out background redraws in favour of simply refreshing the background image when necessary ... because of the transparency all over the place, everything else shows through .... (thus giving the overlays all over the place)...

On the DVD screen, I put the Play/Pause right were the the "exit" button is on the main screen - you probably exited the DVD player, then clicked where the Play/Pause used to be, and exited the program (I've done it myself).

I'm going to pull this copy, and hopefully through one with the screen issues fixed up in it's place in a few hours....

cheers,

Brendon

Hey guys,

I'd like to send out a big thanks to Frodo - we spent a few hours fixing up the overlay issues (all but the startup screen), and working out a few in the DVD player.

I've pulled the current beta, and will be updating again hopefully tomorrow afternoon or Saturday at the latest ...

cheers,

Brendon

Terran - yeah, the next release is going to be for all the beta guys - I pulled this one because it just ha too many flaws is the display under XP. Again - Frodo was a BIG help and it was looking reasonably good by the time we were done!

cheers,
