Playing DVD movies without the disc
I found a great piece of software that allows you to play DVD movies from you hard drive on multiple virtual CD/DVD drives. It's called Alcohol 120% . The idea is that you backup your DVD movie to your hard drive as an image file, then you can take that image and mount it to the virtual DVD drive. Alcohol 120% even allows up to 26 virtual drives on one system. The down side is the a DVD movie takes up about 9GB as an image. This is great to use becuase you don't have to worry about the movie skipping or having to swap for a different movie. I also recommend DVD Decrypter to create your images since it has the ability to remove Macro vision and change the DVD's region.

Alchohol is awesome, I just started using it last month and I love how easy it is and how well it manages your images. Very helpful stuff.
But if you are just trying to stop DVD's from skipping you should try DVD Idle Pro. It buffers ahead however much you want. So instead of reading little chuncks for the duration of the movie, it will read 600mb or so in a minute then will wait 15 minutes to read the next 600mb. Saves the live of your DVD drive because it will only be using the drive for 6min instead of ~90min.

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the movie to HDD then I use PowerDVD XP to play "DVD on HDD"

Alchohol is just like Daemon Tools. It lets you rip CD's and DVD's to the hard drive as an image (ISO or whatever you prefer). Then you can load the images back into the system as virtual drives. So if you wanted to rip a cd encyclopedia to the HDD and then whenever it asks for a new disc you just click on the image from the list and it will emulate a cd drive with the image loaded into it.

DivX is a video encoder. You need a seprate audio encoder of your choice. You just need to find an AC3 audio encoder.

I wasn't stomping you, sorry if you took it that way.
It's just the question wasn't related to the thread.
And I did send you a link
