Anyone know how to interface with standard CD changer interfaces?

The idea was to simply build a small unit that acts like it is a CD changer for simplicity.

You might want to check out P.I.E. electronics (do a google search). I know they provide a number of cd-changer and head unit conversion cabling ... I would think that hooking everything up would be the first step. If you want to keep your stock head unit, this isn't a bad way to go - they carry cables that provide RCA inputs into stock head units that have CD-changer capability.... Sorry, getting a little off topic! However, they very well might carry something suitable,
