yeah! my version of 2000lite boots faster than xp
I'm so happy with my version of 2000lite. Thanks to Fred Vorck @ http://home.earthlink.net/~vorck/2ksp3.html - I was able to install windows 2000 without IE, outlook, ms games, WMP, media player, cdplayer, soundrec, everything in the accessories folder ('cept notepade and system tools) ect ect. The install size was 798 megs, and a 12 second boot. And has full driver support
But i have a question:
Am i allowed to post my version of 2000lite as an iso on the net? It is a windows update cd, so you'll have to prove that you own a version of windows by inserting another CD version of windows and can use that old serial #. Otherwise it wont install
Ooo i forgot to add that on my boot cd i added mozilla, qcd player (dont like winamp anymore), wallpapers, sonic foundry vegas video, and paint shop pro. These all have to be installed maually after 2000 installs. Isn't that convenient.
Finally windows is getting closer to redhat. Next i'll figure out how to make a windows 2000 boot cd that installs rehat or mandrake icons instead of 2000.

Fantastic result. I'd be a little dubious about posting it in public - it sounds like a receipe for disaster - but others will know more in relation to the legal details.

12sec counting from where to where, Power on to desktop, Post to login, etc?
Sounds neat. Thanks for the weekend project idea.

Ok
This is what I have to say about posting the ISO of win2k. Don't do it. If you want people to have it, do a detailed how-to and people follow and use that. Posting the ISO of 2k could get you in a hot bowl of soup with MS and MS is becoming pretty nasty as of late with copyright issue.

I would be suprised if anything happened to you, but like Seraph said, don't do it (just to be save ) It would be nice if you could post up a simple how-to, on how to do it. Or maybe your allready modified .ini files would be OK, so we don't have to mod them again, like the instructions on the site say..

Sounds cool...but how long does a standard Windows 2000 boots on your test PC?
A before and after boot time figure would be nice...keep up the good work

What difference does it make? since they gonna have to download churnopol CD from the net anyway Im sure they are also capable of downloading the full version of Win2000 from the net somewhere
