Can I remove/change the welcome screen in windows xp?

Hi, I would like to change the Windows XP Welcome screen. I don't mind the initial one that has the black background, but when that BRIGHT BLUE screen that says welcome comes on at night time, it is quite annoying.

Anyone know how to change that screen? or get rid of it all together?
Thanks in advance

There are all sorts of hacks that will let you do this. check out http://www.themexp.org/ and you'll find plenty of boot/welcome screens.

Be warned. these hacks require a custom kernel file. make SURE that you can boot into the original kernel if something goes wrong and it wont boot. I personaly have a HAL 9000 boot and login screen.

you need a custom boot screen as well. with a custom boot and login screen you should have no problem. I don't.

ok correct me if i'm wrong but i thought a boot screen was the image while windows was loading and the logon screen is where you click on your pic to login, neither covers the welcome screen???

I run windows XP pro on my laptop and I dont have any other screens other then the boot and login screens. Perhaps its different in XP home, But I've never seen a "welcome" screen.

The welcome text your seeing is part of the logon screen. Replace the logon or switch to the classic/slower one and see what happens.

nope. don't have it. Just booted my laptop up, and its got no such welcome screen. I think this welcome screen is tied to the login screen. the link I posted before should be able to get rid of it.

What's the point in having the Welcome screen? I have my PC set up so that it logs in automatically without showing the Welcome screen. There's only one graphic to change during boot up... which is the Windows XP loading screen.
