Well guys...
The ctrl +/- method does work temporarily and actually in arby's skin it messes up the titles when you switch back to the main mode. So that is not a feasable option. I have a touch screen as most do and do not have a keyboard readily available every single time i want to look at the songs.
I tried using arby's skin with winamp 5 beta and did not have any luck. It does not work.
Any other options???
Arby out there??? Wanna try to make the skin workable for wimamp 5, or show me how to do it?? I tried messin with xml, but didn't make any progress as of yet.
Thanks!

The ctrl + method will not work with winamp 3. I mean it will work temporarily, but who wants to be messin with the keyboard every freakin time you start winamp. We all just have to wait till someone like arby, or arby himself can make a skin for winamp 5. Then we will all be happy. I tried to use Media engine 2.0, but still feel that just using winamp with a nice skin like arby, and switching with the task bar is the easiest and best way. Whats the point if you have to stop listening to mp3's everytime you wanna look at the gps.

Is making skins for winAMP5 the same as winAMP3? I've been meaning to run through the tutorials to make my own custom skin, but I don't want to do that if it's gonna change when winAMP5 gets officially released.

Winamp 5 supports both the new freeform and older skinking method. You should be able to use either winamp2 or winamp3 tutorial for skinning winamp. But the winamp3 method allows for much more freedom.
You can probably get started with a basic layout, etc, but for the advanced items, you may need to wait for an official release of winamp5 and skinning/sdk docs to see what components and api function will be fully supported and available for your use. As with Arby's skin, just because it was supported in winamp3 may not mean it will be fully supported in winamp5.
I did get Arby's skin working with Winamp5 by modifying a few of its maki scripts, but it has too many quirks. At this point, I don't know if its just bugs in winamp 5 or that too many things have changed in the api or are unsupported.
For example, the playlist is scaled to right size, but it keeps redrawing slightly to the bottom left cascading its way off the desktop automatically when a song is being played instead of being locked in the same position as it does in winamp3. Also, in the alpha the meta data/id3 tags were not implemented yet, so I had to modify it to use only the current playing song title. Although the fonts/colors worked fine in the alpha, but in the beta they do not. etc.
This is to be expected, as it is only a alpha/beta. I'll probably wait on an official release or a release candidate and some new docs/sdk on skinning and api function before trying again. But by then, Robb@E.P.E
should have an awesome Arby's skin replacement for winamp5!

Have you tried using Girder to make your ctrl +/- ?

if your resolution is 600 x 400 something it will fill up the whole screen. I have 800x600 resolution and it does not fill up the whole screen and i love it that way, because i have copilot running in the back and i can see the next turns and still mess with winamp. So i doubt that with a 12" screen it will fill the whole screen unless you set your resolution to 600x400 something.

If you don't mind modifiying the skin's xml and make scripts, you can change it to whatever native resolution you like.
I use a modded skin that runs at 1000x600 on my xenarc wide screen courtesy of inor ( http://inorkuo.cjb.net/). It has a mini button on the top bar to quickly minimize the screen to get to Copilot and a gamma/shading component for night driving.
