Ewww sound card + video card on dual pci mini-itx reiser card = audio interference

So I had this grand plan of having a nice PCI graphics card, along with a super nice sound card in a tight mini itx system. This would of course require the use of a dual pci reiser extension card which these systems do support. Well its together, and it works, but whenever there is like some movement on the screen, the currently playing song will slow down and mess up a bit. Its funny listening to a song with a full screen visualization on cause its like twice as slow and a bit distorted. Yuck!

Is there any way around this? Maybe if I fiddle with the IRQ settings...

** EDIT **

On a good note, all my standby/hibernate lockups have gone away! Now I can go into standby and come out while playing music!

what motherboard are you using? I had the same problem w/ audio. When I used the scroll on my mouse the audio would distort. U sure this is because of the riser?

I've been testing it for a while without the pci riser card since it was on backorder. I guess there's no way to know if its the video card + sound card combo and NOT the riser, since well, you can't have those in there together without it ;P

** EDIT **
BTW its an EIPA M1000 Nehemia core mainboard. I just upgraded to the latest flash (annoying flashport said the new bios wasn't compatible, so I had to hook up a friggin floppy drive and guess what, flashed like a champ ;P) still same problem. Its so bad that even as I type the music distorts ;(.

Whats strange is that on the dual pci riser card there is a big jumper block, with no instructions or markings as to what the jumpers mean ?

** EDIT **

This is weird, all noise and interference just went away..........

While playing mp3's.... 6%-1%... while media player pans over to a new add... 100%....

Although the distorting of music is gone now :\

Psyc,

I've got the m10000 and if I play MP3's with full screen visualizations I'm at 100% cpu utilization. Also, playing w/full screen viz, the temp of my cpu (measured with MB5) shoots up to 65+degC...ouch! I think the cpu is working it's little fingers to the bone with the vizualization computations. See if your audio is OK without viz.

slow graphics

sorry to drag up an old thread, i also have same motherboard (m10000). currently im using centrafuse and when playing music and using the nav screen its maxes out the cpu to 100% and gps verbal prompts play very stuttered and the system fully lags hard core amlost to the point of no responce some times. i have just been putting up with it.

any sort of visualization while playing mp3s is a major no go for me

currently using the 1GHZ processor, 512 MB RAM, USB sound DAC and using the onboard graphics, is there anything i can do?

thanks
