Returning from Standby killing Mediacar

This is driving me mad!

Running Mediacar on Win2000, my M10000 is powered with my 90w Opus supply. All is configured for standby when the ignition is turned off and everything works as expected.

If I fire up Mediacar and enter/return from standby again everything works as expected. However, when I play some music and then enter/return from standby things get a little unpredictable. I found that Winamp crashes and so installed winamphelper which kills and restarts it when I enter/return from standby.

The problem is Mediacar still has problems once I return from standby. I have to exit and then restart to get things a little more reliable. Turning the ignition off in the middle of some music really upsets it.

Any Ideas?

I have a similiar problem. I have a opus 150w and win xp. I have the opus setup to hibernate when i turn the ignition off. All works perfect when just using gps or any normal windows program. When I am running mediacar and turn the ignition off, the computer will start to hibernate and screen will go black. But then the computer will restart. I have been searching to see if anyone else has this problem but could not find anything. I have been looking at all the mediacar options but do not see anything to change. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance,
JT

I had a similar problem at first. It turned out to be winamp crashing and giving a black screen. Using the winamphelp utility removed the issue but now i get the problem i first described. winamp is used as part of mediacar. Search the forums for winamphelp for the utility. It may help.

I've not got any problems with MediaCar and my Opus and resuming from Standby. I have been using Standby for the past 2 months without a hitch.

Garry

Can you confirm that you can turn off ignition during a song and resume correctly when you start back up? Also, do you need to restart winamp during this process? I'm beginning to think it's a Win2k problem, so I'm tempted to go XP.

I found the problem!

Aaaargh.... Just typical!

I tested the carputer out of the car and it all worked fine.

So..... I went back to basics taking everything off and adding things back in one at a time till it broke. The one piece that breaks it is the Sony XA-300 which is the auxilary input to the head unit.

The great thing about the XA-300 is the USB input which when connected to the computer looks like a USB sound card. With USB connectivity I get no interference at all. When using audio cables to the phono sockets I get noise on the line. So it appeared that the USB was the way to go.

When I run everything without the Sony device all is smooth and no complaints. Put the USB back in and the problems come back.

So, my question is now: How can I disable the USB sound device before going into standby and then re-enabling it when returning from standby?

I ran a test to plug the device in while running and unplugging before going to standby and the reverse when starting up again and again I don't see the problem.

Any thoughts anyone?

Ooooh...... Devcon.exe, sounds like a security level.

I'll give it a go and see what results I get. Did you ever find a way to run this automatically when going into standby?

Thanks for the URL!
