Got some stuff up:

http://www.stevieg.org/traffic

The route 66 data has some problems, it seems to plot some data in the wrong place. I will look more into this soon. The BBC data however plots correctly in MS Mappoint.

The direct download for the latest traffic info for GB is http://www.stevieg.org/traffic/gb.php

The data above will eventually have more data than the BBC data, the next is the Route 66 data so it can be imported from one file; it is live data so the link can be used rather than re-coding the processing into the application.

I'll have a look for some more data sources for other countries as well, I'll see if I can get the minnessota one working in this format

Been having a think, I will want to access the data every ten - fifteen minutes via GPRS. To keep the cost down it needs to be:
Only the traffic data in the nearest 30 miles or so (configurable)
Only updates when required, and only the minimum data

Easiest way to do this would be sending a user id to the website so it can recognise the machine and only send back appropriate data.

This way it would also be possible to allow the user to add their own TPEG source(s) and other types in time, and also choose options such as whether or not to send the description (extra bytes equals extra cash)

I've also had a look at the specs for the type of data, it's all pretty straightforward, and the BBC/TPEG people provide sample icons.

I'm going to make a prototype database driven system for the above tonight and add the URL when I've got somewhere.
