Exclamation CPCSL - CarPC Software Launcher

As I'm sure more and more of us are trying out different CarPC software now, I thought that it would be useful to have a "front end" which can load up various other CarPC software applications, so, I have thrown together very quickly CPCSL, the CarPC Software Launcher

Available for download here

It is skinnable, and you can change the size/position you wish it to show on the screen Very basic, I hope it helps someone

Basic Usage Guide:

Within the skins directory, there is a skin.ini file. Within this file is how you configure what is shown, and where. Firstly, you can change the size which it is displayed, and the position from the top left corner.

You can then set how many buttons you wish to have shown. As default, it has 4.

The first setting is for the path to the executable you wish to run, the second is for the program name. Next is the position, in %, of the left, right, top and bottom edges of the image. Following that is the image to be shown when as standard, and when you press it.

If you set the number of buttons to more than you have, it will just take a bit longer to load. If less, then the later buttons won't display. If you wish to have buttons sitting "on top" of others partly, it will load them in the order shown in the skin.ini file, from the background towards the foreground. You can place the % values at less than 0% and greater than 100% if you wish the buttons to sit off the screen slightly

Sorry, no fancy UI yet for setting things up, maybe later.

As another thought, this could also be used if more than 1 person uses your vehicle, and carputer. With two installations of the software, each person can have their own settings, skin and playlists, without interrupting with the other.

Also, would anyone like an option to password protect the carputer, and/or password protect starting a particular piece of software?

If so, please let me know, and I'll see what I can do

nice software, but not exactly what I would use in car environment, as its against the main principle of simplicity.

On another hand, I would see this being used in a multimedia wall environment.

Congrats on the prog.

Like the others I havent downloaded the program yet, however I do like the basic concept of it... havent downloaded just because Im not running any software interface other than winamp in my car right now. At any rate, one option I might can think of off the top of my head would have it remember what was the last software you loaded up as and then it load that up automatically, however if you load up frodoplayer automatically, then decide you want Media Engine, you simply close frodo, it automatically comes up to your menu and you simply select Media Engine. If you shut down (whether its hard boot or soft boot) the next time you start your system up it will come up to Media Engine. As well, you could have an option that everytime it comes up to frodo as the default, but then again you can exit and goto the software of your choice... just a couple thoughts you might think of integrating. As you said, a good alternative would be if more than one person drives the car and wants to use it to open different profiles or something. As well you might have it to where it lists options for opening other programs like a GPS program etc.... just random thoughts and Im still randomly rambling on but oh well, just thoughts...
