Text-to-speech suggestions

Does anyone have any Software Recommendations for text to speech on a carputer. Obviously some sort of software that can work easily on a touchscreen without taking too many recources. Has anyone used any software for this, comments? reviews?

Did I see those prices right? $3,000.00+ Anyone have a REAL solution? I used to have a shareware text to MP3 program. I would convert news websites and dump into my MP3 walkman thing in the mornings to listen to on the bike or whatever.

I had tried the demo sounds good, but I would have expected more for the price.

Was there not a text to speech, program that came with the early
Soundblaster sound cards.
It's been a long time, but I remember thinking not bad for the time and cost.
I did expect the demo to sound much better.

Must have a look for the old text to speech program.

Was it not called "Parrot" or something???

MSFT have a free Text to Speech engine, you can get it from their downloads folder, or if you cannot find it let me know and I'll hunt it down.

If you get MSDN, its on their DVD's too.

The interface is really simple to integrate into other apps.

Check these guys out: https://www.cepstral.com/cgi-bin/dow...store/home.cgi

Amazing and for great prices

We were able to obtain an SDK from Cepstral's development team and may be able to implement it into VOICES. It is not a free solution obviously, but its one of the best i have seen. We'll see how development comes along.
