Windows XP doesn't save autoplay settings

How do I set the default in windows xp sp1 for when I insert a CD or DVD into the disk drive it always pops up a little dialog box asking me what i want to do[open folder, open program, do nothing etc...]

There is a checkbox on the bottom that says "do this action everytime" and even when i choose "Do Nothing" and check that checkbox to do it everytime I still get it popping up asking me what to do when i have MediaCar open. Essemtialy it doesn't save my response

I have even went into the the properties for the cd/dvd drive and selected each content type and chose to "take no action" but those settings don't seem to get saved.

What gives??? Anyone have any bright ideas. It is most annoying

Cheers

I wouldn't expect you to understand this since you work on a Macintosh (god love 'em) but in windows XP it can detect what kindo of content is in a cd and depending on the content you can set a default action. Well my problem is the default action wont stick

Attached is the menu you get if you right click on the cd drive and click properties and then got to the autoplay tab.

This i the place where I set the defaults. A similar pop up dialog box appears when you insert the CD/DVD into the drive and thats where it asks me what i want to do....

And i yell very loudly I ALREADY TOLD YOU SORRY PEICE OF CRAP WHAT I WANT TO DO....KNOW STOP ASKING ME

Once i regain my sanity i simnply choose do nothing and click the checkbox (do everytime checkbox) and hope it actually saves my choice.....but it never does
