Good PCI Video Card for 800x480
Trying to find a good card to get 800x480 on my M10000.... I finally decided I want to add a second card... Most of the cards I have seen listed that people used are very large and produce lots of heat.. Some even have fans... Does anyone know of a good PCI video card that can display 800x480 and that should have no problem playing DVD's smooth on an M10000 that is a half size PCI card that produces low heat?

are you dissatisfied with the on-board video? I have been using mine for about 3 months now and am well pleased with it. Its not as fast as the Nvidia 5900 on my desktop, but for what the car PC does, its perfect.
Im curious about the motivation behind a second card?

The motivation is because of the resolution.... I don't like running stretched 800x600... I would like to run in my native screen resolutions, which is 800x480, which the onboad VIA M10000 can't do.

Oh, I see. Is the screen that much sharper then at this resolution? My lilliput at 800x600 looks pretty sharp to me? Certainly for things like MC and CoPilot it looks fine. My case doesn't permit me any option wrt video cards so I'll have to wait for a software solution.
I read somewhere that the drivers support the native resolution of the lilliput when you use Linux.
Of course thats not a practical solution at this point unless all you want to do with the machine is play mp3's, videos etc. There are no viable GPS solutions for Linux, and for that matter, currently no MediaCar like solutions either. There was talk on here a while ago about a Qt based solution that smartly uses the (fantastic0 brushed metal skins of Feb. Maybe thats worth waiting for before resorting to getting a different video card?

MobileH1, you may be able to fit a PCI card in your case with a flexible PCI extender like the ones here:
http://www.adexelec.com/pci32.htm
I am thinking of doing this with my in-dash setup if I find a need to do so.

I don't really need DVI/TV Out and a bunch of fancy stuff for playing games... I would figure I wouldn't need a 100 dollar video card for my car... The onboard M10000 video card works perfect, except for not getting the native res.. Basically the most graphic intense thing I would ever do is play a DVD... Anyone have suggestions on some older cheaper video cards that they have gotten to work good?
Basically should anything with an nvidea/ati chipset work?
