ALEXIS is not dead

<UPDATE>
I know there are a few of you out there who are still eager to see ALEXIS released in any form whatsoever. I want you to know that the project is most definitely NOT dead.

I have been plugging on it here and there, sprucing small things up and ironing out small issues. This Big Holdup brought to you by: Life! Life, for when you have something much better to do.
I am currently holding down three jobs. One of them is full-time, but the others are threatening every waking second I have, as they are coding/consulting jobs, and have no set or defined hours. One of those side jobs is about to explode into its own full-time opportunity with a new business.
All of this is helping me make some great scratch on the whole, but at the same time, takes every bit of awake time that I have to keep up.

This will be changing as the consulting gig settles out into a regular maintenance routine, and the new business gets rolling. For now though, I'm lucky if I get the chance to look in on my baby (the program, not the baby baby kind) for more than 15 minutes a day.

Keep the faith folks. I can only hope that it turns out to fulfill your expectations, whether you adopt it as your own or not.

<shameless butt-kissing>
Also, since I haven't been around too much, Frodo, I would like to offer you my congrats on a job well done with the FrodoPlayer. I had a chance to take a look at that thing, and if I hadn't already invested so much effort into my own, yours would be in use in my car right now! Great job dude! Some pretty slick skins out there for it too!

Is there any code that compiles yet that I could play with?

As soon as I can figure out how to do video screencaps (like for educational programs) I sure will be putting up a new vid! Anybody have any suggestions on how I could do that?

I'll see about that, but I'm not all that hot with interpretive Flash ActionScripting... heheheh. I will be putting up some new screenies soon, but she likely won't be in them, since the MediaPlayer component in my VB install seems to have died. Dunno why, but can't seem to create any instances of mediaplayer on my project now, or even get the existing ones to play. Weird. Oh well, I will find a way to at least set something up so users can change the image...

Heh, me too! I'm eager to see what kind of magic is possible to pull off with live text to speech programming.. .Now THAT would be teh shiat!

That, or maybe some other image, like.... car eblems maybe? That seems to be the going thing in some of these other projects...

Well, yes and no. Currently, it compiles just fine, BUT at the moment, the user would still be forced to conform to the way I have my system organized for it to work properly. I need to code in the ability to use .ini files so directory locations etc can be saved on exit. Right now, there are a few ocx controls that need to be installed as well, so it's likely that first release will be done as a complete base install to get those things in place and minimize heartache for y'all! So: yes, the code is there / no, I can't release it just yet without first finding a nice place to hide when people try to use it.

Thanks again for the encouragement and your patience fellas... It won't be too much longer before I can give this project a lot more time.
