Automatic Sync Software *Suggestions*
I am making automatic sync software for windows(currently) and linux(evenutally). I am attempting to not make this vaporware, as i have all the psudo code written out, its just the time to make the iface and the code ect. Anyways i am open to hear the suggestions and possible feature requests. Or if this has been completed in the past, i would be intrested to hear about that as well.

Have you checked out the features of any of the existing synch software?

Negative, im not sure of any that exist. Ive seen some that are vapor-ware, that use MS's file sharing protocol to do it, but i am taking a custom client/server approach. Install the server on the update machine, configure it, and it will automatically generate install files, etc for client machine.

No longer public? hope you did not get discouraged. I have both of those programs and they are ok. I would be interested to try your program too!

I think archimense just wanted to bring to your attention that there is some software out there. I would check them out and use them as examples for features that you may want to implement or perhaps did not think of. Don't take it as an insult. Just like when you release your software (which I still hope you do) others are going to tell you what features they will like added. It's not to downplay your software but just to make it better.
IMO,
Derek

not discouraged, but if theres no user base then theres no point. I am still coding one for myself though. Got a lot done so far Maby ill release it, just depends on the userbase.

Yeah, even I have one but it doesn't mean anyone uses it. It seems like everyone wants something a little different so variety is great!

*Update*
Directory monitor application working. No scanning of directories to find out if theres new files. Just watches the configured directories in the background and creates a queue of what it needs to do to sync the filesystems.

useful
This is actually pretty useful, I coded in my interface software a server/client which transfers mp3 files from my home PC to my car, once my car was detected on the network. I loved it for the week I had it running, you see I baught a new truck and the carpc hasnt found its way in my new truck...YET...

hehe, oh nooo. My software is already way more advanced than that
Requires 1 actual sync to get the database up, then it just watches the filesystem for changes, (kinda like the way an antivirus works, without messing with memory insertsion) and then when a network becomes preset it just makes the pending changes, copy, renaming, moving, bytes diffrent, ect.
