windows Programmers.. I need your help

Let me give some background info. I am working on a poker (texas holdem) client/server game to let people host their own games online. I was happily coding along using c++ with the QT widget set. Its a great cross platform widget set. I had the client almost all done but i've run into major licensing issues with QT. Their commerical version costs $1500 for 1 license. If i use the non-commerical version I have to GPL the client which is no good.

So I was wondering what people though about me using C# or such. I HATE MFC! I don't even wanna learn it but if i have to.. sigh..

Also I was wondering if anyone wants to take over by doing the client. I'm looking for a partner. Right now I need someone that is a good windows programmer and can make a nice looking layout. I have a lot of the graphic work done. From what I've seen and re-actions i've gotten this good sell well. My idea is to sell the server and give away the client. So its a monthly service. I'm only looking for dedicated people and if you know how to code in windows well it should be easy! Its all re-acting to commands the server is giving and sending commands back. I did all the harder work doing the logic on the server end.

thanks for the time..

you can PM me or IM me on aol (hijinks7) or email mike (at) zcentric (dot) com

What exactly is your problem with MFC? If its a problem with installing an external library have you thought of using WTL / ATL. Its similar to MFC, but doesn't require all the overhead and has a few other differences, but its completely free and will run on anything windows.

Also expect a PM on your other matter.

I'm mainly a linux programmer. I'd learn MFC but i've heard its a ***** to learn. I've looked at it and it looks like a ***** also. To me QT was very straight forward to learn and easy to do complex problems. I just wish the licensing fee wasn't so expensive.

If you do take me up I can't offer any cash up front what i can offer is a good portion of the monthly payments. This is either gonna explode or grow slowly. I feel there is a need for this with online poker exploding. I started it for me and my old high school friends to play then i had a lot of interest from others on this also.

Yeah, stay away from MFC It's bloated, and forces you into its framework.

As previously mentioned, WTL is nice, though it lacks documentation. That's what I mostly use now. Along with FLTK, wxWindows is another cross platform GUI library. It's a little heavy, IMO, but it produces standard looking windows clients and is quite easy to use.
