XP Winlogon

Has anyone or does anyone know how to disable/remove winlogon.exe/Logon GUI so there is no logon needed at all.
Let me explain a bit more...

What i thought of doing was running my front-end software as a service, that way it starts up right at the beginning of windows. Now starting as a service doesn't require a user to be logged in (which causes extra boot time and wasted resources) so theoretically once the loading screen has finished, then you should get your front-end app coming up.

Comments, thoughts, anyone know how?

Logon - No Password

1. At a command prompt, type "control userpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts
application.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then
click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be
logged on each time you start your computer.

It won't work like you think. Since there is no user, the app has almost no
access to anything on the system. Bad idea.

You people are missing the point.
He doesn't want to run it as shell.
He doesn't want to autologin.
He wants to load it as a service, and avoid loading the winlogon process.

A service is started by the system and has access to anything. I have created VB6 apps that run as a service with no problems even when a user is not logged in. I will have a play when the get my carpc system up and running again as i don't want to try on my main machine.

But if anyone knows how to prevent/stop the whole winlogon thing that would be usefull.

I have spent a good hour or so "googling" for this and haven't really come up with anything. If no one else has any idea then i guess i'm stuck with trial and error testing.

i'm no programmer.. so i'll go back under my rock if 'm wrong..
<> programs must be writen specificaly to act as service or not.
<> Even services run under a UID (as system or admin, etc) & can have rights granted/restricted.

any value to:
[] trimming the boot times (un.necesary services) as much as possible and auto-starting your front end?

A service runs as a user or as localsystem. Either case requires winlogon.
