Post Street Atlas Road Warrior Question

Does anyone that is using this software know how to get the GPS to start when the program starts instead of having to click on the GPS tab and then start GPS? It gets kind of annoying doing this everytime I have to start Street Atlas in my car. I've been looking through the options and can't find anything about it.

I know just what u mean. Other than that, i have also noticed that the maps or the way they calculated the coordinates is either WRONG or OUT DATED. The position 90% of the time is not directly ontop or close to the map being displayed. I know there is NO setting in registry that u can set to turn it on. It took me all day to hack that SOB and now i can control it in CobraII. Anyway if u want full screen , i can tell u what to change in registry. Drop me a mail or chat with me on AIM.

I guess I'll have to take the long route (no pun intended) and write a macro to turn on street atlas and click that start gps button. I know what you mean about the positioning problem, was kinda funny watching me on the map driving into businesses instead of on the street. BTW.. how does the full screen hack work? Is there a way to go into full screen and out of full screen? Sounds very cool and useful. Anymore hacks on the way?

All the keyboard shortcuts are listed under the Voice tab.. look around there. If I am not mistaken to start or stop GPS it's CTRL+G. I will post again when I get home and look at the app more closely. Does anyone have the manual for this? perhaps there are more shortcuts that is not listed there.

I also edited the different window sizes in the registry as cenwesi did so that the map looks bigger and also the GPS tab is the first tab to show when i load the app. That way as soon as I start the app and press a button in my remote to start GPS tracking, it will start showing the speed and direction without me having to go through the tabs. This thing doesn't calculate directions very well though. It sometimes gives you weird turns but as long as I get the overall idea of where the place I'm trying to go to is, i don't think i mind.

As with any GPS app there is always a strong and a weak side...but I kinda like this one better than the other apps I tried ( Street Atlas USA 8, Mappoint 2001, STreet n Trips 2001, and Streetfinder 2000 ). I think I am sticking with this one for a while.

moahdib,

Thanks for the shortcut key heads up, that will make programming the macro a bit faster and easier.

Hey I missed the one where you can set up which tab to show. I like the next point/mileage/time info.

Also have any of you folks figured out a way to increase the volume of the voice directions (other than turning up the soundcard).

Cool

blkdragon6: u will need i think two handles....let me paste the code here...and it must be done in this sequence other wise it won't work....

//--this bastard took me all day to hack so here we go
PostMessageA(gpshandle,WM_KEYDOWN,17,0) //--CTRL down!
PostMessageA(gpshandle,WM_KEYDOWN,71,0) //--letter G
SendMessageA(gpstmp4,WM_USER + 31886,0,0);

NOTE: gpshandle is the handle to the actual RWE app and gpstmp4 is a handle to a hidden control for RWE....if u need more info on that handle i will post the c/c++ code to get that handle for u....lol

How do I apply the hack that you posted Cenwesi? BTW, major compliments go out to you for Road Atlas hacks and your Cobra app. Despite some of the controversy over your posts , you are still a very valuable asset to this board.

Thanks. Sometimes my evil twin comes out of the ordinary . To apply the hack, you might need to write a small exe to send those api calls to the RWE app. If you really want, i think i can send u the FULL code that gets the handle and starts it.....drop me an email.
