New Bios Logo Problem

I just got my new VIA EPIA MII 12000 and one of this first jobs I wanted to do was replace the boot logo with a custom one. i.e. BMW logo on a black background. I followed all the instructions in the Different BIOS boot logo screen thread. SO I made a bitmap image 640x480, then converted it to Tif. I checked the tif file and there is no problem there. I then garbbed the most upto date bios from via - I0A00135.bin and used the utilities to put the new logo in. I then tried to flash the bios. Initially it wouldn't work and flashed up insufficient memory so i udes the /tiny switch next to the awflash (via version) command. This worked and when I rebooted the bmw logo came up but the logo has a thick white line around it the edge of the image. Almost like 640x480 is not quite big enough.
Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to try again yet if I don't know what caused it, as I know flashing the bios is a bit risky.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Ben

The bios is on and off so quickly, I chose to skip it. I let the bios do it's thing and I skinned the boot screen and the welcome screen.

So my computer goes...

BIOS screen

Windows XP loading screen, Which I have set to show WIndows XP Homer's Edition with a picture of Homer Simpson instead of the Windows logo

Welcome screen, which is a picture of an E46 M3

Desktop

This way you still get your logos and take zero risk of screwing your BIOS. At worst you screw up your boot.ini file and have to reset it.

I agree. I've done the same on my shuttle. Boot Screen is a digital 3d image of the ACCORD logo which I designed from some pictures I took of a new aged Accord Badge. And my login screen is an image of my Accord loooking oohh soo bad *** drifting. hehe, I like showing off that I'm capable of doing a nice power slide mimicing a drift

bump

Thanks for the replies, but I really do want to change the image. I know it might just be me being stubborn but I want to fix this.

Has anyone actually succesfully changed the bios logo on an Epia MII?
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this problem or how I might solve it?
Cheers
Ben

I finally got it to work. I had to download Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 to create the origional tif. 640 x 480 x 256 colour 8 bit. Then I had no problem.

I can only assume I had a setting wrong in Photo Shop, or Photo Shop have a problem with their tif format. I have heard they don't handle bmp very well so this isn't as far fetched as it seems.

Many thanks to Alastair Roberts for his help and really useful page. And also to CdRsKull for the origional thread.
Here is a copy of my working 10A00135 bios file for the Epia MII boards, with BMW logo. Use it at your own risk, but it works for me so it should for you.
