I am using mpxplay but i am having issues using it due to long file names. Is there a program that will convert playlists and files to short filenames ??

What have you guys done to get around this problem ?

Mpxplay reads the MP3 id, the info contained in the MP3, so, it doesn't matter what the file is called..

You have to enter the info when you make the MP3, or you can change it later using a program called "mp3 file editor" which you can download from http://www.mp3fe.com

Playlists?? MPXPLAY can search for all the MP3s on a certain drive, then make a playlist using the dos names, eg. iamalo~1.mp3...

Dr-DOS supports FAT 32 and long file names. It also suports networking, but I've never had any luck getting this going. You can get more info and downlaod Dr-DOS at www.freedos.org.

I did some testing this morning. The "lfndos" utility, that I posted a link to, isn't compatible with MPXPlay.

I was able to get lfn playlists to work, using:
MPXPlay 1.44 (Didn't seem to work under 1.42)
Windows 95's Msdos Mode
