Linux software

I am thinking about setting up a Linux based mp3 machine in my car. Is there a player that will work on a key pad? and What is the best overall Linux player?

I'm running a linux based mp3-player. But I couldn't find any software that satisfied my needs. So I hacked a frontend for mpg123 by myself.I call it MP3-Box. It's still lacking some features, but it's working really great with big playlists. You can find the whole setup under http://mordor.weh.rwth-aachen.de/mp3box/
Just take a look, if you want.
