cheaper, easier, space efficient networking
A suggestion for those starting out.
Instead of getting a network card (and therefore have enough room for it) you can use Direct Cable Connection (for win9x). Once you correctly use it it stays open sort of like a daemon and then all you have to do after that is plug in the parallel cable and update files/software.
The only problem I can see happening is the LCD plugin for winamp conflicting with it, I'll have to test that out when I've wired everything up.
