Question Mpxplay problem

Mpxplay seems to work fine for me (volume, treble, bass, speed - can all be adjusted)
I can browse for MP3's on my harddrives.
What i'm saying is that everything's fine UP UNTIL i start to play an MP3 - - then BOOM! My computer freezes completely. The soundcard autodetects as a SB16, so that should be okay. I can't think of any reason Mpxplay keeps freezing like this... ((By the way, I am using MPXF as a frontend, but that shouldn't matter anyways. I also have a 40x4 LCD. I am using Mpxplay v1.42))

This could be a HIGHLY applicable program to be used in my MP3car, *if* i can get it to work.

Any suggestions?? comments???

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

.peace.

send an Email to Attila Padara (the author) he is a very nice person, and I'm sure he will help you, almost in the same day.

But as you do that, let's see...

What is your hardware configuration, which card are you using, what DOS and so on. If the program does start, perhaps the problem is an IRQ conflict with your card, and perhaps a serial port. Also, run first MPXPLAY alone, so to isolate problems with MPXTSR.

I have run MPXPLAY on a 486DX4-100 and as fast as it can, it runs.

Ok,
well i know my sound card works in DOS, because i downloaded Wolfenstein 3d (game) and it works great.

My computer is a P200, 32MB, voodoo Banshee video, PCI64-Q3D sound card (detects as SB16)I am just using the DOS that came with Windows 98-SE. (just for testing; In my mp3car i will use plain DOS.)

Yes, i am just using Mpxplay alone - so i can isolate my problem.

Any other suggestions????

.thanks.

Ok, I have had some problems with some vga's, try first to use no display at all (-f0).

Second, is a env. variable set to the card configuration (SET SBLASTER=I10 ...)? Also try this out: Start windows 98, and run mpxplay from inside windows (DOS box) so the windows drivers initialize the Card, not MPXPLAY.

Also if MPXPLAY doesn't work in a DOS box, have you tried to run MPXPLAY bailing out of windows to DOS mode? (not reseting the machine, but exiting windows to the dos prompt)
