Does anyone know if a alphanumeric LCD connected to a parallel port can be used under Windows NT? If you know if it will work or not please let me know.

It will work, but only if you write a device driver for it. Parallel I/O (or any direct hardware access for that matter) is made much harder in NT by the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). One of it's functions is to keep NT portable accross different processors, so hardware access cannot be made execpt through a device driver that makes calls to the HAL. I'm not sure if anyone has written a driver for an LCD screen yet.

Why would you want to use NT for a car player? I run NT on a few servers, and it boots very slowly. Try using Windows 95/98 with 98lite.
