Red face Wireless internet (but expensive to do hehe)

well,there is:
http://www.znetwireless.net/
which is mad expensive but easy as cake to install. In fact, if I were in a covered area, I'd probably buy it once I move out of the dorms and into the real world. That 128K connection isnt' great but it aint half bad for aerial connection. Just gotta wait for better coverage.
Okay, actually it now sounds like an expensive bad idea, but it would be cool once it gets to almost like cable access prices.

Interesting. I didn't dig enough to find any sort of contract in there, but if your CIR is 128kbps, that's not a bad price--about the same as ISDN. But, being wireless, I kinda doubt they would do that.

It looks like most areas only get 28.8kbps, only a few get the full 128kbps.

Yeah, looks great if your covered, I actually looked into this a while back. I live in a verry covered area, and it would be nice. I allready spend 50 at home for cable access ,and I just dont think I need the 128 K for another 70 bucks a month. I can make do with my 14.4 Kbps via PCS phone.

The most importiant issue with this thing is : The parent company is going broke! http://www.metricom.com/ owns the Ricochet name. They make and sell the product and are the owners of the towers. The problem is they spent all there cash on the towers, and not enough on marketing. No one wants to buy the product, and if they dont get some serious help soon, they will go bankrupt.

However , when they do go broke, someone will be waiting to snatch up all the infastructre they put in. maybe bluetooth.... maybe someone else, but when the buy out happens, I expect the price to go down, expansion of the network will slow. and depending on the buyer, I would probably buy some stock.

My .02
