Stealth GPS Logger - Save yourself from Speeding Tickets / Parking Tickets?
How does the sound of a Stealth GPS logger sitting in your system tray sound?
Imagine being able to get off speeding tickets, or parking fines, because the logger creates a log (.txt) which could be used as proof, from incoming NMEA - RMC codes from your GPS receiver?
It's totally hidden apart from the icon in your system tray.
All you need to do is create a virtual comm port so your applications can all show the GPS.
Well this is what Ii am looking at doing how’s it sound...?
Anyone interested?

Well working as a Police Techie in New Zealand, i had at least on 3 occassions where people, were let off due to their gps logs. One was even in court.
The data coming off the gps has a checksum right?, if i were pulled over i'd show the cop straight away, since it has the exact time and data embedded into it, and its not like the checksum could be created on the fly, if you were trying to 'hack' it.
I'll see if i can find the article.

This is tricky because technically the GPS log could be modified by any user. Most courts would throw it away because of that fact.
You would have to prove it to cop who pulled you over. If you get a nice cop they may be ok with that , but if you get a jerk they will see that as you are arguing with them and they will give you the ticket out of spite
just my 2c .. But I am not a lawyer so don’t take what I am saying as the word of the law

Point taken.
But most of use have a optical writer in the car right?
I'd burn the folder, and just hand it to the cop.
If it did goto court how can they say it was editted, if he has the exact same copy.
???

.
It would probably be a nice feature to prove to YOU that you were speeding. I don't believe police officers sit there and make up radar readings, typically the only reason they'd pull you over is indeed if you were speeding.
If your GPS log says you werent and the cop says you were then you could probably bring it up to the officer if he had any doubt that you were speeding he'd probably let you off, I mean it costs the state money when you fight a ticket the police officer knows that....

thats a good point. Really you only have to worry about getting pulled over if you are indeed speeding.
but there have been recorded instances where the cop taged the wrong car after getting a speeding reading on his gun.
I guess the GPS log would be good as a cover your *** move , but dont count on it to get you out of the fire

All very true...
But i know how far off police radars are, from a 100m away it cant not pick up between two different cars, laser is a different story.
It seems no one really wants this software so i'm probably not gonna bother.

u can always check if it has been edited especialy if its a text file if u right click and go into properties it will show the last time it was added to or edited.. basicly if u got stoped ur gps wont log info until u move again and it wont write to that file making the last stamp when ur slowed down and stoped ur car on the side of the road with a five 0 behind u

Even that is forgeable. Just change your system date/time before saving the file. To make it look original, just copy and paste the data into a new file first, then save. Instant fake. It wouldn't hold up.
