Free trial copies of ESX Manager software

Last month we made ESX Manager available to the public. After getting flamed from the horible installer (which is now fixed) we got some really good feedback.

A lot of the bug fixes that were requested have been implemented in the new version, a new theme was submitted and the installer was fixed.

I am offering any mp3car members a free version until 5/20/05. This includes all future updates and releases.

If you create a skin please email it to me. I will make it available to everyone.

Download ESX Manager

This is if you create a skin?

Nope this is just an out right free version. The feedback we got over the last couple weeks from the MP3Car community was great. There were a lot of bug posts which we were able to fix and our software got a lot better. I think a lot of people avoided trying it because it cost $30.

So I am making it free for the next two weeks. I hope people will continue to post feedback. Someone has already submitted a skin and I hope other people will submit theirs. Our goal is to make the software better.

The software now works on Windows 2000 as long as you have SP4.

Where's the continuity? What's the benefit to us as users?

My personal opinion (which I hope isn't being mistaken for a flame) is that if you want to take on board the benefit offered by a group of experienced CarPC users as testers, then you need to bite the bullet and realise that you're not going to make money from us unless individual users are so impressed that we feel compelled to donate. This happens. Have a look at the threads for Frodo, Centrafuse, Map Monkey, FreeDrive etc.

Failing a commitment of this type (which the guys from Hybrid entered into), then there is nothing that is compelling me to download your software to evaluate it. I'd be curious whether I'm alone in taking the lofty moral high ground here, or whether other members agree?

C!

The reason I chose Frodoplayer over Road Runner is that Frodoplayer has some useable skins. That's a feature that I need that Frodoplayer has. What I'm saying here might sound obvious, but I see you have x10 support, and yet you still have horrible skins. That new skin is a huge improvement, but not even close to what it would take for me to try your program. Look at Brightlife and LS 2.0. If you want to see some money, don't attempt to leave this task to the users.

I'm really making two points here. If you want your software to be popular you must 1) prioritize your features according to what the most people want, e.g. music, gps, nice skins 2) have some kind of unique feature in which more than a few people are actually interested.

The simplest way to do the latter is make excellent skins. Post screen shots that make every other player look antiquated, and everyone will try your software.

But of course, once you get people to try it, it will sink or swim depending on stability and speed.

Feedback

Thanks for the feedback murdermuppet I think we over looked the importance of the graphical interface. We have spent the last week working around the clock to create a new theme and add support for custom graphic buttons.

The results. I'll let the people of the forums judge.

I will also extend the offer for free registration until the end of the month.

So far I have had over 50 people register copies. Feedback has been a little lite so if you download the program tell us what you do/don't like.

I will be installing this tonight. Do I need an Inet connection on the machine to register it? I will reviewing it for www.mobile-effects.com

In case you didn't know, we've had screen shots of the demo in the gallery for ESX Manager for a while. We have been waiting for an offer like this to give a fair review of the software.

Thanks much for offering this, and we'll help with some feedback.

Best thing to do is contact user yunusyu who created the skin (Brightlife) for Frodo and either ask for help on a pay basis to create a skin or ask him to evaluate your tool.

Appeal to the reputable skinners and see what they say about your new frontend. Oh before that contact an Admin here and see if they will give you your own frontend secion like Frodo and Road Runner , etc.. As the posts need to be corralled into one location for ease of searchablity and access.

They can always dump or archive the section later if needed.

Just suggestions to help get you off the ground with your interface.

Good planning up front always pays off in the end.

Remember there are alot of die hard fans of Frodo, Road Runner, etc and to sway them to try another interface it really takes something that blows away the competition...
