Ya, if it is a service then it won't be in the proccess list but it is just as easy to disable a service but less people know how to do it. Of course then it is just as easy to start it in safe mode and then disable your program

it would take someone with a hacker mindset but they could stop the service. The odds of somone looking in that direction are slim. I dont think I would think to do it.

Ya, it's fairly simple to make it a service. I think your biggest worry would probably be safe mode. I don't know how to stop them from doing that. A lot more people know how to boot in safe mode than disable a service.

It doesn't seem to remove the trayicon in WinXP, but it does mean you can't restore the window to a visible state.

I haven't tried it yet but perhaps this will help you with your program:

Thanks for the links the second one has got me thinking more on the GINA.DLL possibility and they way that the user logs into windows.

I am going to spend some time reseaching the possibiliies of changes to the DLL as above, if possible to say incorperate my little app instead of the standerd login screen but still have it perform a windows login that would take care of all the issues. Dont even know if it is possible yet but it would be the cleanest way of doing it, I think.

Your Answer

I have what you are looking for, this little app I found blocks the windows interface from showing, blocks the taskmanager, blocks regedit, and blocks the start menu, with this combination, it will do exactly what you said you want it to do. here is the address:
