Ok, I am officially a moron. Really, I have the paperwork to prove it...
I still haven't gotten this whole port replicating thing figured out, so since I had RoadRunner running at the same time, NetStumbler probably didn't have the GPS available. I can do it first thing tomorrow morning. I am glad to see that you are working on it!
Have you been able to pull any of the information out of it yet (other than using NetStumbler)?

I searched the net and found a NS1 file .. but I don't think it's for the USA (where I have maps for)... so it would still help to get a file from you (or anybody)...

Ok, so here's what I found out:
1-Using Wireless networks without authorization is a felony in the U.S.
2-I have code ready to read NS1 files and parse it for SSIDs and GPS positions as well as to discern WEP and non-WEP networks
3-I have found that there's a mappoint script that works directly with the running mappoint (inside RR) to display the APs found (this is available on the internet). I don't believe that mapping the networks can be considered a crime unless you actually use them. May be one could always knock at somebody's door and kindly ask to use their Wi-Fi ?
Anyway, from the above I find it that it would be useless to try and integrate RR and Netstumbler beyond current capabilities.. The only thing that maybe of use would be to allow loading and displaying of NS1 files on the map -- but this would have to be done by selecting the file to load by a menu/etc.. I am open for suggestions.

Did you get the script to work with Mappoint inside of RoadRunner?
As for the legality, wardriving is not for the USE of access points, it is for the discovery of them. Similar to geocaching. Your not in it for the money, you are in it for the hunt, and the fun of it.
As for the integration, I wasn't looking to have NS built-in, just have Roadrunner show the APs on the map in realtime. If it was to be a menu, it would be ok too though.

You do know u can just scan an area with netstumbler, and then use stumverter to put the pinpoints on the map.

Yes, it worked fine.. It does find mappoint inside RR and integrates with it.. of course, I had to edit the script to disable the loading of the "ptm" file that it was pointing into (some custom map file the author of the script uses) and disable the loading of custom icons I didn't have.. This was just a matter of changing two words from "true" to "false".. But it should work fine and display the APs on the map.. you'll still need to work on the GPS for both RR and NetStumbler ... in any case, I strongly suggest reading any vbscript before excuting them (in this case to make it work right, but mostly for security) -- I even remove wscript.exe from some of my machines just not to have to deal with virus scripts ...

Well, yeah I had disabled the map loading, but it still loaded a seperate instance of mappoint. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I did finally get port sharing to work, so thats half the battle. And I still can't get anything to embed, but that is almost definetly something wrong on my part.
I'll send you a GPS laden copy of a NS1 file, if you don't need it anymore, throw it out. Thanks for anything you might do with it in advance. (Just don't come to my house and use my network!)

Ok, I got it working, and let me tell you, I do not suggest editing a text file doing 60... I swear the trucker could hear me yell when the first one popped up.
I found that if you spell netstumbler correctly, and don't leave out any of the t's it embeds much better! And I editted the script a little more and diabled netstumbler from controlling mappoint other than the AP plotting.
And as for the icons, the script allows for custom icons, so I can just make a set for the APs that look like the mappoint icons.
Now all I have to do is remember how I got it all working. First I have to split the com port, then launch mappoint from within RR, and then NS....
