Damn, I hope I dont need to update my Centrino 2.0/1gb ram/gforcefx anytime too soon....

although wait, summer 2006? nah, I hope to have a new computer by then!

My carpc though will probably not see this until at least end of 2006 or 2007 sometime when all our frontends catch up and stuff... I am already foreseeing a bunch of "xxx frontend doest work on vista" threads... I wonder how well the Winamp/WMP/XP dlls stuff will work in Vista...

Hopefully this clears up some questions you guys have....

What are you MS marketing guy??? Vista will probably suck and be overbloated just like everything Microsux does,,

Like always MS rules because of sheer size.

I honestly think the OS will be better than XP, but will require the appropriate hardware (to this moment this isnt of course known and wont be known until people start running the thing's final version)...

quirks will exist in the first versions, but I think it will ultimately be a natural upgrade from XP for ALL users.

I just remember the days when software and hardware settings were a BEEEOTCH. We didn't have plug n pray, automatic this and that, soft IRQ's. Man we had to jumper the right pins, and rocker switches in the right combination, RESEARCH which IRQ was open then pray the IO base was good too. Then IF and WHEN you managed that, you hoped and prayed that the software would recognize the hardware, and it all had to be done when the moon and stars aligned.... ahh the crappy days. No wonder geeks got paid so good

Yeah! I remember... openning up your computer to play with jumpers/dispswitches on modems, and other hardware....

Yall are guuna laugh... My first was a Tandy 1000 cga16 with 640 expanded ram card, dual high density 5 1/4 drives, and ah 20 MEG hdd.

This is the funny part. My drive was soo gemp'ed-up, I had to physically roll the heads back to sector 0 just so it would boot. The harddrive (mfm/rll cant remember which)had a controller card attached, next to the controller was the dial connected to the hdd.

I felt like I was crankin up a model T for cryin out loud!!

Im sure it will be really stable. NOT!
I just upgraded to service pack 1 on my machine for the first time, and today that computer saw its first blue screen of death. No lie, I couldnt believe it. Luckily, no problems have arisen from it. MS just talks out of their *** about stability... they have no control over many of the issues that cause instablilty anyway.
