uaaa this thread is a big mess 8-) perhaps the best would be deleting this thread and open up a new one....

i suggest using the first and only link I posted (which is now working!), because i will update the file on my server for new versions..

i mean this one: Capture!.zip

you don't need any install text file.. just start the program

take a look at the config.ini and ignore the ###... german comments.

all you have to do is remember the id's of the video and audio capture devices and compression filters. then insert the numbers in the config.ini.

you can specify your path for the videos with
SaveToDrive = C:
and
SaveToPath = \\media\\recordings\\
(for example)

set
WindowStateOnLoad = maximized
or
WindowStateOnLoad = CES
(if you are using CES)

just ask if something doesn't work

greetz! chris

If the App works all right and people give a good feedback you can ask frodo to move it to "other cool stuff" in the soft development forum. (I will try it myself this afternoon )

Thanatos.

yep, please try it! i only had the chance to try it on my own system with my cam, so i'm interested in any other experiences with this tool!

a small bug (i mentioned that on the german forum): sometimes it refuses to record a file. size remains on 0.00MB. today that did not happen, but it would be good to know more about the circumstances for that bug to happen.

afternoon? its time to go to bed for me now ;-)

The program works great at home! Thanks a lot!

Here are the settings I'm running:
Cam.: Ezonics P35U+
Res.: 640x480 @ 30FPS
Audio: none
Compressor: DivX® 5.2.1 Codec

I'll be installing this in the car tomorrow to see how it runs in action.

Bugs/Suggestions:
Although I'm viewing and recording at 640x480, Video Device Capabilities (Options-->Video Capabilities) is still showing 320x240.
Would you be willing to make the start button a start/stop button (i.e. when you press start, the button turns to stop and that way I won't have to look for the stop button on the other end of screen while driving)?
Is there a way to create a "background.jpg" file so that the user could change the background to any picture he/she likes? I understand that you really like your RX-8, but most of us are in this hobby for the "cool factor." It's not really cool to have someone else's car show up on their screen.
Not sure if it's a bug, but there's no titlebar in full screen mode.

--> i'm checking that. i think the menu has it own defaults, regardless what you set in the config.ini. i think i have to rebuild the menu at startup for showing the correct settings
Would you be willing to make the start button a start/stop button (i.e. when you press start, the button turns to stop and that way I won't have to look for the stop button on the other end of screen while driving)?
--> first i had this configuration. but then i wanted the stop button seperate to prevent accidently doubleclicks on the start-stop button. (clicked stop and accidently started again) we should start a poll for that question

--> sure, sure! thats clearly an extension i want to integrate. customisable background-images. i just don't know yet how to integrate .jpg images right out of the C# code (right now the image is integrated in the .exe)
Not sure if it's a bug, but there's no titlebar in full screen mode.
--> thats not a bug set it to "normal" and start it fullscreen via your carpc software if you want a titlebar.

Just make the double-click event do nothing, or put disable on the button that is released after a delay of half a second or something...

Just an idea.

Arrow

new Version: Capture!.zip (or use the link on the first post, they are the same )

new features:
  • one big button for start AND stop
  • higher buttons (sometimes the windows taskbar was overlapping the buttons)
  • customizable background image!! just save your own "background.bmp" to the programm folder. only bmp works till now.
  • smaller file size because the background image is no longer integrated in the exe.

@DJiK: on my system the menu is showing the tick correct at 640x480 if i set the following in the config.ini:
FrameSizeHeight = 640
FrameSizeWidth = 480

@Bodgy: i can reproduce the error. but i can't locate the problem in the code till now. i have to work on it tomorrow..

regards! chris

I refuse to install .NET on my CarPC ... it grinds to a halt, I don't even have it on my Desktop .... .NET seems to slow everything down even when just installed.
