@DJiK, ALL: Just noticed that you can actually use JPEG background images too! Just rename your .jpg file to "background.bmp" It works!

DJiK will become famous soon enough
Hey, thanks for the tip (and good job on the programming part to make it work)!
As for now, I'm trying to figure out what camera to get... I couldn't find those $10 Vimicro Webcams anywhere.
Maybe you have a link?

Vimicros are everywhere on EBay. I got one for a dollar (shipping was $12.) Check for these: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-WEB-CAM-WEBC...QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-WEB-CAM-CAME...QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.com/Infrared-USB-Nig...QQcmdZViewItem

Those are all vimicros, just rebadged. I was skeptical so I searched deeper and found one with 6 leds, higher res/pixels, and cheapest price. Other than that they're all pretty much the same. I started by finding the ones with 6 LEDs, 350K pixels and 30fps. some are black others are chrome-like finish, came with vimicro CD. Good luck.

OBTW, on my 500MHZ tablet, viewing is great in daylight, gets washed out by oncoming headlights at night, and automatically slowly switched from color to black & white at dusk. For the price, I got much more than I paid for. Only complaint is night vision is short (6ft) range without external lighting and my tablet bogs down to 15 fpm with everything running and Capture! recording. With Capture! only I get 30 fpm easy.

Now to buy one of those cell phone wide angle lenses to increase my field of view (currently only 40 degrees).

excellent tool

what an excellent tool. just what I was looking for!

unfortunately it errors with me too :-(

the capturetesttool works (though not with wmv9).

But when I try the latest capture download I getan error box saying:

.net 1.1 is loaded. I can capture video in other apps (moviemaker, etc).

and as I say, the test tool works.. any ideas ?

vicky_obee: The blue screen you see is the background image. Just rename a bmp or jpg image of your car or whatever you want to "background.bmp" (the name has to be .bmp right now) and replace it with the image in the folder of Capture!.

I choosed to not display the preview window while capturing, because the Via C3 1Ghz system was not able to handle the cpu load. Maybee i can make this one configurable too. (but where should i put the status texts then?)

powerlord: Thanks for the congrats! :-)
Hmm maybee the values in the config.ini point to a video codec that does not exist. Try switching them to 0 or 1. Or start the CaptureTestTool and see on what position in the menu your desired video codec is listed (count starting at 0) and put this value to the config.ini. Hope this helps..?

Great application, thanx !

I have one request, can you add another button to create a snapshot photo as well as the one which records video ??

Of course it would need to have aut file / folder naming so that you can take a photo with one click ?!

Thanx

Hi all

Sorry, I did not have time to work on the app. It works very well for me so i do not need to work on it for myself.

But remember, my offer that i can send someone my source who will work on the app is still present.

Wow! Just found out that the Sony PlayStation 2 EyeToy Cam is the perfect Webcam for the CarPC!!

640x480x 30 Frames/sec, veeeerrryy sensitive at night, very fast and sharp, beautifull colors!

And: it has a built in microphone!

I found the drivers on bittorrent. I seems there is a D-Link VGA Webcam built in the EyeToy case.

I found the cam for about 20$ bundled with eyetoy play 2

chris

could you not make a second version that will allow people to see the preview window when capturing or give a choice so that people with a higher spec system (that can cope with it) can pick weather they want the preview or not?

cheers mate

Any chance you could post a small sample movie?

Funny. I've seen the game yesterday for the first time. A friend showed it to me and I thought exactly the same thing.
Didn't know that it also had a microphone, but the picture quality was really good. I'll probably buy this webcam for my car.
