it will probably not integrate very well, so you'll end up slowly building your own front end anyway!

If you tint the windows it will help the viewability when it's sunny.

Other than that I would leave the windows as they are.

I hope that was a joke....

Use windows if you like...not to bad if you use huge @$$ icons....but a frontend is nicer and cleaner interface

exactly

i was thinking about manipulating windows for a carpc system.
there was a software (windowsblind or sumthing)
which allows you install gadgets, visual styles and skins.
they change classic windows appearance entirely and customize the interface.
0l33l and dunno what is she doing here

Yes and no.

No not a serious answer to the first post but a play on the title words.

however a serious suggestion for viewability.

You can swicth between two differently light modes instantly specially as you are driving. That's where frontend comes handy.

http://www.wincustomize.com this website contains a lots of gadgets that might be useful in the car.

Depending on what your putting in your computer running windowblinds in my experience will give you a noticible performance hit unless your running something fairly high end. The advantage of using a frontend is you can completely disable the explorer shell so you can have all your applications available but dont have to have them all sitting on top of explorer wasting memory.

I would reccomend just running a front end as many of them are free.
