Resumer Winamp plugin..works with MPC, too

Update: Well, I was somewhat wrong. Resumer works....sometimes. I think it may have to do with interfacing with Frank's Winamp plugin. It simply may not be...... Anyway, I wrote to Ed Mansu about it and hopefully he can remedy it. Resumer works flawlessly with MP3 files though. I wish I was more advance in C++ or I'd write the damn plugin myself, but we just gotta wait and see ...and hope it can be fixed.
--------

I finally found the Resumer plugin Eddie Mansu wrote for Winamp. It basically saves every definable # of seconds the: current song, entry in playlist, and position in currently playing song. It's a great plugin for guys with in-car MP3 or MPC players.

It was originally written for MP3 files but here's the better news: it works with MPC files, too. I guess it's not "mp3" extension specific. I've got it running with Winamp 2.79 and MPC files so I thought I'd pass along the findings. BTW, for whatever reason the plugin can't be found anymore on Winamp's site. The plugin is free, with the install file also containing the source. If anyone wants a copy email me and I'll send it over. Cheers.

The exact name of the plugin is "Resumer", written by Eddie Mansu. I guess it's not the same one. BTW, I've heard back from Eddie. He's up for trying to nail down the problem. I think it's just some wierd interface thing with Frank Klemm's MPC/Musepack plugin for Winamp, however I could be wrong. Anyway, the wierd thing is now the plugin seems to be working fine. I've not done anything to it or Winamp since yesterday.

BTW, where can I get that plugin you speak of? Thanks.

Oops, yeah, I use eddie's. The Eggware thing I was thinking of is an autoplay thing, that makes winamp start playing on winamp startup.

when winamp closes, it saves the current playlist as default.m3u or something like that. So instead of winamp.exe in your autostart or whatever, use c:\program\winamp\winamp.exe c:\program\winamp\default.m3u, will make it play at once

Ok, I was wondering if there were any others out there, but Eddie's "Resumer" is the only one I've found so far.

Jol, the problem isn't getting Windows to boot into Winamp. The problem is getting Resumer to work correctly. I think Winamp should export the title, position in song, etc., fine, but since we're talking about MPC("Musepack") files now and using a plugin to decode them in Winamp, I'm not so sure it's not a thing between the MPC plugin and Resumer. I've emailed Eddie back with my test findings and am awaiting a response. I hope Eddie can nail the problem because it's a great little plugin and I'm used to it working correctly when I used MP3's. BTW, I spoke to Frank Klemm, the main programmer for the Musepack format now, and he didn't seem that inclined to add a resuming feature into his plugin. Well, we'll see what happens.

FWIW, I had no problems with it when I used to use MP3's, but that was with Resumer version 1.1. Still, I tried 1.1 now and it acts the same way. It appears that if you manually select a new song or go forward/previous in the songlist that it somehow screws up Resumer, yet the entry in Winamp.ini is correct. I have noticed though that upon rebooting Windows or Winamp that goes to the last song played the first time you play a playlist. Got that? No word back from Eddie yet about this.
