It would be perfect for laptop users who also use RR. If I kill rr, winamp and all other embedded apps stay running, if I close it, it also cleanly closes the embedded apps. That way there would be no issues with the playlist going crazy, etc.
Awaiting the new release...

I set it to run "RRClose.exe" at least 5 seconds before the Suspend routine, just to be sure.
Download provided in the thread referenced above.
So anyone else out there, just download autoit, and then create a new script, copy the above code but change the part where it says "RoadRunner" to the window title of the app you want to close. Want to close multiple apps at once? just use multiple line in the same script.
@AI experts, if I missed something, please let me know, so I can update it...

I installed this software on my laptop. I didn't get any errors. I get the little icon on the bottom of the screen, but I cant get it to shut down my pc when I disconnect the power. I am running a cut down version of xp called tinyxp that I downloaded from: http://ithotnews.com/index.php?s=tin...=16&submit.y=8. I don't know if this is what is causing the malfunction or not. Any thoughts?

sorry to bring up a dead post... but I was wondering what the advantages are to using this app over the power options in control panel and scheduled tasks for launching programs? ...
I see a couple...
-The "MultiAction" to reboot the computer and THEN go into hibernation... (is the big advantage here being able to cycle the computer completely, having a fresh start.... but also ready in hibernation mode for when you get in the car again??)
-Pausing/restarting winamp, thats neat
-Creating time delays when starting programs upon ACC on again...
Anyways, with windows XP (i'm using TinyXP)....
Control Panel > Power Options
[Hibernate] tab and enable it if you want to use hibernation*
[Power Schemes]
Set the "Plugged in" side of the settings to never, if you want the laptop to remain powered on as long as it is receiving power from the car...
Set the "Running on batteries" side to however long you want for screen, hard drive, and standby BUT leave hibernate set to 'never', for both batteries and plugged in...
Click on the [Alarms] tab up top:
There is a 'low battery alarm' and 'critical battery alarm'...
make sure you select the check box to enable the alarm, and click the box "Alarm Action..."
Now you see, you can have the computer standby, hibernate, shut down, or even run a program based on the Battery POWER level, and not just based on the TIME.
MY PERSONAL SETUP w/ XP Power Options:
[Power Schemes] tab
Save as... "Carputer" to create a custom set of power settings...
"When Computer is plugged in:"
All settings are "Never"
"When Computer is Running on batteries:"
Turn off monitor: 1 min
Turn off hard drive: 3 min
System Standby: 1 min
System Hibernate: Never
[Alarms] Tab
Enable both low battery alarm and critical battery alarm...
(The critical battery is just in case something goes wrong with the hibernation, or a program causes problems)
Low battery set to 10%
"Alarm action" for low battery...
When alarm goes off, computer will: Hibernate
No Notifications enabled...
Critical battery set to 3%
"Alarm action..." for critical battery..
No Notifications,
When alarm goes off, computer will: Shut Down
***Check box "Force stand by or shut down even if a program stops responding'.***
(there is an option to force shutdown/hibernation even if program freezes)
So, with my laptop and the power settings...
I think have everything needed for shut down control....
Once the ignition is turned off, the computer switches to battery, and after 1 minute of idle time, it goes into standby mode...
Then it stays in standby, until the battery power reaches 10%,
at 10% battery power, it comes out of standby and goes into hibernation.
For extra safety, for example, if a program will not close properly for hibernation, and the power drains to 3%...The computer will then force shutdown even if there are non responding programs..
******I'm not trying to make a point AGAINST using this app, I would just like to know the benefits over using the power options/scheduled tasks*****
If anyone uses this, or knows how it helps out vs. what I have mine set up as, please let me know
Thanks!

I've not forgotten about you guys. I've been really busy over the past few months, but I am going to look at the source code again at some point in the next week and start trying to rectify the problems.
If anyone has any other feature requests, please post them. Even things like, layout, usability and functions etc.

Could you add a pop up message that is changeable that will give the user the option to extend the shutdown time?
I'd like to have my carputer shutdown after a few minutes, but if I'm still in the ca waiting on something I'd like an easy way to extend the shutdown time.
Other than that great program thanks for creating this!

feature request/question
in 2.21 it appears for shutdown on single action, the application launch does not work; only appears to work when single action is set to something other than shutdown.
would be nice if these launches would fire for shutdown as well.

The feature that I would like, is for the song being played on hibernate to start at the point it was playing before hibernate, instead of going back to the begining of the song. It does this if you have the right settings and hibernate from RideRunner itself.
Thanks.

I agree with scotty562. It would be awesome if we could kill the power down for just one instance.
Sometimes I get out of my vehicle for 5-10 minutes and would rather not go through the boot sequence and reload my favorite Houston radio station (have to stream it... been a while since I've been in htown).
Thanks :-).

I don't think I'll ever find the time to make the new revisions, so I'm just uploading the source for the app. Maybe someone can take over where I left off.
Edit: source removed due to retail interest

Damn too bad I dont use vb much.. I may try to build it some day when I finish my 2 apps.. If anyone gets it to build I suggest an svn or google source. This will make is easier for multiple people to work on it.
blessani, you made a nice app man thx for the source..

Sorry for the DP, but need this to be seen, as its a one time shot.
My brother ( a VB programmer ) was able to compile it first go, said it looks fairly strait forward. Going to ramp this back up and make a list of changes I'd like, now may be the only chance for others So Kindly post them in a detail fashion, I dont have time to look back at them all.
I will more then likely make a change log available to all if there is enough interest.

Would love to see further development on this project. Don't really have anything specific to comment on to make it better. I did notice that if I had a 0 second delay on start after hibernate that 2 instances of RR would start. Other than that I use it daily and have no problems with it.
