No worries man =] It's been crazy here too, I haven't had time to do much of anything outside of work either =[
I was going to PM it to you, but i didn't see an option for attaching files, so i attached it here. This vesion works without any issues, but if you rename the context Media to Audio, like i said above, I have that strange problem.

Soon... I promise. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at work, and I've got my CarPC up and running. YAY!
I think I know why the problem is happening with the naming of the context(s), but haven't had a chance to look at it.
So yeah.. No real updates yet, but it's getting closer to the top of my priority list, so it shouldn't be too much longer now. :-)

Hey Guys sorry to jump in. I am really interested in getting one of these as my primary input device. I am hoping to be able to use it to scroll, select, pause, play volume, ect. Have you guys got it to that point where its worth me ordering? I use road runner. Thanks for all you hard work on this project. This would be such a great addition! Thanks
Taylor

I have it working as a mouse, as well as controlling play/pause, next/prev track, and volume as well as mute. I can pretty much do anything I want with it =] I dont think you can emulate the mouse scroll wheel, but if you just want to scroll through playlists, then you can do that with keyboard keys, which can be emulated. I also have it setup to do differnet things on different screens in roadrunner, like it does the audio player controls most of the time, but if im playing a game (like the ones found in the digitialfx 2.0 skin) it acts as a mouse.
only thing you cant really do yet is turn the LEDs on or off

Hey Taylor,
At present, the software driver Sama and I have written is capable of doing everything you list. However, it does require configuration, using an XML file, to accomplish.
I actually still have not gotten the device installed in my truck with my CarPC as I only recently got my CarPC installed, and operating, but I'll hopefully soon integrate it.
Inh for one seems to be using the device semi-successfully with his configuration.
If you're willing to do a bit of trial and error, and post here for some help, I'd say now is as good a time as any to pick one of these up and start fiddling with it. :-)

Can it simulate the scroll wheel on a mouse? Are you still holding out tricks on me cherrybomb? And here I was thinking you might let me in on your secrets, being fellow explorer owners...
Tell ya what, you get that LED control working, and I'll write up a configuration guide (hopefully after you let me know of any lil tricks i dont know about ) to help get people working with your app, since it is kinda complicated.

Nope, scroll wheel is not supported. I suppose an axis could be configured to support it, with some extra code, and a new configuration option. Maybe something good to add to the TODO list.
I think I can manage LED control. Hopefully a configuration utility won't be too far behind since, as you said, it is pretty darn complicated.

Alright, well ill add the guide to my to do list, which is like #2, right behind the next release of my own software project.
In the mean time, people can post questions in this forum if they need help, and you and I can do our best to answer em I'll try and comment my config.xml file a bit better as well.

So... I'm looking back in the thread, and I'm trying to figure out exactly what you mean by adding support for the LED's.
I can make it so that in certain contexts it's on, or make the app accept a formatted window message to turn it on/off which would integrate well into RR.
What exactly do you envision for that?

I think that being able to control it via window message will work great for RoadRunner, and possibly others as well, but just in case, being able to either a) set it on or off on a per-context basis, or b) be able to define it as an action to be performed in a context, so a click of a button could turn it on or off. I like 'a' better, but mostly i would LOVE for there to be window message commands for it

I've been following this from the start but I'd just like to review the process. Summary of the 17 pages perhaps.
Can you guys correct me if I'm wrong.
Requirements:
SourceForge download (Contents: SpaceNavigator.exe config.xml)
Xerces-c_2_7.dll
Can someone tell me where the config.xml needs to go and do I need to change something in RR or will it automatically recognize the movements.
I'm sorry, I'm just trying to get a handle of what is needed, what needs to be set on the carputer and what needs to be configured in RR. Thanks guys for all the great work.

config.xml goes in the same folder as the program, and both come in the sourceforge download.
the xerces dll goes in that folder as well.
to get it to work with RR you will need to setup the config to send commands and such. check out the config.xml i posted up a few posts ago. It works with RR perfect =]
im going to start on a guide as soon as i get rrcam 2.0 released

thanks INH, your work , CherryBomb's and Sama's have been awesome!!!
INH: I did everything you said, I only have the volume up and down working with the buttons. I used the config that you posted earlier. Does it matter what skin is being used? I will have to sit down and read through the whole config file. I'm prolly just doing something simple wrong. Thanks.
