I had similar idea w/ space navigator to use it to control car PC, and cameras in the car

but then i figured that it is not to comfotrable to use SPE for that as it work as stearing wheel whhere you actually have to keep pressing to get to somweher... at the same time i saw another knob that can actually rotate ... I think that is better because you know your positions so you dont have to pay too much attention whyle u r using it. (Well i still didnt buy thet one yet)

this carpc addiction has led me to acquire the space nav, and unfortunately coding is so confusing to me. i'm just a lame user.

anyone have the heart to make me complete config.xml file based on INtervex's in this post?

im not 100% sure how that XML orks, mostly what program executes it? I dont like working w/ XML files. I can do quick driver app that will config winAmp or wibdows master volume (standalone app)

search 3D connexion for mouse transponder driver.. i think i saw one there.
Its easy job to do custom one too.

Very customizable. You can have it default as a mouse and then switch to carpc mode when you load up the frontend.
