developing in VB

I'd have searched for this.. but since VB is only two characters...

What is a good app, preferably free, to use to develope in VB?

I've never used VB before but I've used a number of other languages.. learning what I have to to use VB for this project shouldn't be too difficult.

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation

As far as I know, the only VB development environment is the one made by Microsoft. I don't think it is that expensive though, especially if you can dig up a friend who is still in college, as the educational prices are pretty cheap.

Is the educational version limited as compared to the full version?

Well of course, but nothing's missing that you would notice/need for a while. Unless you're planning on creating ActiveX DLL's right off the bat, it's your best choice.

Imesh...

DL Imesh from imesh.com. You can get Visual Studio including VB 6.0 off it. Just make sure that if you accidentally download and install it (visual studio) that you immediately remove it from your computer. Software Pirating is a serious offense. Especially for Microsoft Products! It is illeagal, dishonest, and just plain wrong.

Now that Ive said all that. Enjoy

Hehehe...

I work for the US Marshals!! You cant prove anything!! hehehe...

Here is my piracy excuse (but I dont need it because i dont commit such haneous crimes). I DL it only to make sure I like it before I buy it. Its like MP3's. I just DL them so I know if I will like the CD before I buy it. No reason to waste money on something that Im not gonna use and cant return either.

Or look at it this way, Im saving the Garbage colletors from having to lifts thousands of pounds of crappy software CD's. Thus, Im preventing their backs from going out early! Thus, Im saving them from getting workman's comp. And THUS, Im saving tax-payers' money! See, it all works out. Im doing this country a service!

But like I said, Piracy is WRONG and I would never indulge myself in it. If I DL pirated software to my computer, I immediatly erase it! I do not wish participate in such an activity.

Ohh by the way, ill have my FTP server up and running soon. You can DL crap off of it then erase it

[[[We interupt your forum reading to bring you this public service anouncement.]]]

Piracy is illegal, and any individual who participates in such an act should be shot in the streets.

We at IPC Logistics run a free service for software, music, and movie companies creating backups incase a meteor hits the earth and wipes everything out. These companies need not notify us or contact us with information regarding these backups. Our team of experts works dilligently spending hours of research and using terabits of bandwidth every day to ensure they back up the finest films, tv shows, and software products.

I encourage everyone to join in this program.. you never know where and when it will hit. You don't need broad band, a simple dialup will do. Download as many songs as you can and ensure that you will be able to save them for posterity by making regular cd or dvd backups.

Also make sure you get plenty of liscense keys to make sure there is enough for all of their users once the world is rebuilt. You may want to find a keygen that way you can make sure you can produce new and unique ones too.

You can easily download VB Express Edition. It'll do everything you need to do. I graduated with a BS in Computer Science and never needed something better than that.

You could also just pirate the software...

I happen to be a computer programmer (just graduated though) and I happen to think that there is nothing wrong with piracy. I find the idea of "intellectual property" to be highly immoral and lacking in the ability to be enforced.
