@athomemedia:
wow I'm truly impressed with your work and I can't wait for your next update to see what it will look like!
In the mean time, it would be great if you could add a way to comunicate with other programs (like the SENDMSG method on RR) so we could do things like vol+/-, next/previous track, etc with an external app. That would definitiely make me adopt your FE on my new CarPC!
I really think a good frontend on modern computers should have many pratical features but also a WOW factor and you FE seems to be on the way to have BOTH!
congrats!

This has a helluva lot of potential, only problem as far as i can see, is the lack of 800x480 res which is the res of the screen on my Samsung Q1. I'd love to see this as by the looks of the UI, it supports wide screens, just wanna see it on MY wide screen!

I just stumbled upon this (I've been away from the forums for some time...) and I must say... AWESOME!!! I'd considered writing my own FE (I'm a .NET developer) but after sitting in front of a screen all day at work, I really don't find too much time (or desire) to sit in front of another one when I get home. One feature I'd like to request though: could it be possible for a mixed-media playlist (or folder) to be used... i.e. music and video? I have a lot of music video clips, and it would be awesome to have visualizations for MP3s and then play the video file for the music clips. I used to do this with an early beta of Centrafuse, but loading a folder on my USB stick and using that... it didn't use a database and just played whatever you had in the folder. I've been running RR for about 18 months now and this is one feature I would love, but as it uses MPC for video and WinAmp for audio, a combination really isn't that simple. With this FE I can't see why it couldn't be incorporated...
Cheers,

Hi there,
actually this feature is already implemented. If you just copy some video files into one of your music folders (set these up in the advanced configuration screen or using mediate media manager) then they will be listed when you browse by folder.
If you have a mixture of mp3 and video files in the same folder then mediate ice will do exactly as you describe, and show the visualisations for audio files and show the music videos.
I guess it would be nice to include video files in the music database, but its very tricky to determine the title/artist/genre etc. since we only have the filename to go on - for audio files we use the tag information which makes life easier. Hmm.. maybe we could add a "music videos" entry in the top level music folder.
Cheers

Hi,
mediate will scale to any size when running in windowed mode, but when running in fullscreen it only shows the resolutions reported as being supported by directX. Take a look in the screen settings to see if the 800x480 mode appears, but if not you can go into the advanced settings screen, then on the display settings set the following options:
"Hide mediate window border" - On
"Maximize mediate window" - On
"Use fullscreen exclusive.." - Off
That should give you the appearance of a full screen window sized to whatever your desktop is running at, so should look right at 800x480. You can also adjust the scaling/position of the mediate display in the screen settings.
Cheers

Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you're wanting to achieve here - are you saying you want to use external programs to control what mediate is doing, or for mediate to control external programs? Or perhaps both?
Both are doable, but some specific scenarios would help to shake out the requirements for this. Do you already have an external app in mind?
Cheers

You have a great product @homemedia! I have a 1.1GHz AMD Athlon, 512MB of SDRAM, and an onboard video chipset, and it runs like a champ! Gotta have it in fullscreen mode for it to have decent framerates, but that's what I wanted anyway.
A question though, you said that we need to go to advanced settings for the navigation plugin, however I only have the weather plugin listed. Is there something wrong? How do I get the navigation plugin listed?
Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work!

Tried the program - really cool!! Very nicely done. but there are several problems, such as using Russian encoding - the characters are spoiled, for example screenshot.
screenshots on your button navigation in the program but I did not find it ..

So it says "beta release available" and I folow the link... but it just goes to the home version. Is this beta release newer than 1.6.13? If so, is there a working link to get it?
Thanks

Hi all,
it's been a while since the last post but rest assured that mediate development is still ongoing. However, development hasn't been quite as rapid as we would like recently so we're planning on releasing mediate as open source under the Mozilla Public License (MPL).
It will take a few weeks to dust off the source and set up hosting and make a few tweaks to remove the registration routines, add MPL license boiler plate etc, but we'll post news here as it happens.
In the meantime any thoughts on outsourcing the project would be most welcome. Any budding Delphi/Pascal developers or graphic artists, skin designers will be welcome to join the project.
Watch this space,
Cheers
Andrew

Greetings Andrey (by the way the namesake), at leisure tried to change skin for itself, has noticed many defects in the program so I look forward to development of the program...

Looks Good.
Waiting on radio (HD) prefered and SAT radio (I have XM) but, both would make it a rounded FE. Also I have Garmin PC but, looks like ex-app should cover that. Keep up the good work.
