How can I be a part of the beta group?

One of the most common questions that is asked about Bluetooth is how to become a Beta tester.

The Bluetooth unit is on pre-order on the store. You can place an order for the Bluetooth unit and in the notes just state that you are willing to be a beta tester. HOWEVER, it does not stop there.

You will be required to provide your forum user name, phone information, and microphone information. Due to the overwhelming number of individuals who have apparently decided to take advantage of this pre-order with absolutely no intention of helping to beta test, we have decided to implement some further rules. Your forum user account MUST be at least a month old and you MUST be a member of the Active user group...which is obtained by...you guessed it, being an active member of the forums. I will not go into detail about how this transition happens.

I should note that being a beta tester does not stop at just getting the Bluetooth dongle early and being done. We need you to continue to test, follow up with your beta bug reports, etc. Being a beta tester requires a lot more than just getting the software and dongles early....it requires commitment by the beta tester and the privilege can be revoked if we find that we're not getting any feedback or that we aren't getting any follow-ups on bug reports.

By signing up to be a beta tester you have volunteered to test out a product before it's been made available to the public.

This is beta software with beta features. Some of the features may not work properly. This is why we're testing these features before releasing them to the public. That is what beta testing is.

Also, these forums are to be used to report StreetDeck bugs. This means bugs related to StreetDeck only. If you cannot get a wire working properly on your G4 or T3, that is a hardware problem and should not be posted in the Bug reporting forum since it has nothing to do with the functionality of StreetDeck. If you have a G4 and are having hardware issues, you should call the store and speak with support via the store. If you have a T3, you should post the issue in the T3 forums for support as the T3 is no longer supported.

As a beta tester you must agree to always run the most recent update. We cannot spend valuable time troubleshooting problems on old releases. If a bug report is opened for an old release, it will be closed unless the reporting user updates their machine and the bug report with the latest version. If this is not done, we reserve the right to close the bug report and consider it null as well as revoke your beta tester status and thus access to the beta tester forums.

Bug reports must be followed up on. If a user reports a bug then never checks back in, the bug report will be considered null and will be closed. We cannot spend time tracking down users to follow up on their bug reports. As a beta tester you should be willing to follow up on your bug report on a regular basis. If this is not done, we reserve the right to close the bug report and consider it null as well as revoke your Beta tester status and thus access to the beta tester forums.

Following these simple guidelines will help all involved maintain an order to the bug reporting process and help to make StreetDeck a better product.
