for whatever reason, that turned out to work for me. Probably doesn't help though.
I'm running VIA EX15000G, onboard video, onboard sound.

Didnt work in WMP 10 for me either.

Please retest with the latest release (1.1.1.0) and report back with your findings.

But the following was posted way back in December...

This works on one of the vista test machines here, but does not on the other. Vista now supports playing DVDs through the EVR which is incompatible with the VMR. Unfortunatly, because of a bug in the visual studio compiler we use, we can not add support for the EVR until a patch is made or we do a major work around.

Not that you don't have a point...one would expect a reply or two to a bug reports thread that's been bumped four times over the past three months...but also you never posted regarding whether or not your video card was capable of supporting VMR in Vista. So, I don't know why you expect resolution on this when the answer (even if it's not the most satisfactory answer) was posted before you ever posted.

Can't play here either on Vista or WMP. going to try installing a DVD codec such as WinDVD and see if that helps. MediaCenter will play them though which has me perplexed. I had so many bugs with this garbage i could rip my face off.

AND SD Support sucks bid time. They are getting plenty of $ from people, why don't they hire a call center? They're just going to loose customers by putting out crappy code. I would buy Centrafuse in a second if they had VEarth maps. Anyone working on a mod for this? please let me know so i can plan my escape.

I posted too soon. I Just checked the forum on Fluxmedia.com and Cenrafuse already has a Virtual Earth plugin under development. This could be a beautiful thing. Considering it has built in phone support for all bluetooth stacks and works with most phones.

Got a little off topic. but i was excited and had to share.

Bump Bump. any updates to this bug check? I am still not able to play DVD in SD on vista ultimate.

HOWEVER! I installed the DirectX Nov2007 package from Microsoft.com and now i can get the dvd to start and gives me either the warning or the menu. sometimes just a blank window opens up on top of the SD window and I can't see the menu so i have to close SD.

This was at least some progress anyway.
