Indexing error - 1.0.9.8
What version of StreetDeck is this bug report for?
1.0.9.8
Please give a basic description of the issue here.
Indexing error
Is the system that is listed in your CarPC specs under your user name the same system where you encountered this bug?
Yes
If no, please describe your system here.
Are you able to reproduce this bug at will?
Yes
Please list the steps required to recreate the issue you are reporting.
Whenever I start streetdeck it will come up saying 0 files added even when I know there is new music added. If i go to Options > Music > Re-index My Music at 99% I get a buffer overrun error. I also notice after this happens and I close street deck when I reopen I have duplicate files listed.
Please provide any relevent information regarding the issue you have encountered.
I was trying to re-index my mp3's that streetdeck did not find at startup.

can you try reindexing from within windows media player? try this then check streetdeck and let us know your results.
also, you might want to update to the latest release (1.1.0.0.)

Hi, I normally don't use wmp how do i go about reindexing from within wmp? I opened media player, went to library and I see everything listed there (no duplicates, sd is posting duplicates)
I just updated to 1.1.0.0 and it gave me the same error at 99% of indexing.
Thanks in advance.

delete all music files from the library (just from the library - not from the computer - it should prompt you with this choice).
Then add to library again.

Hey guys any idea's on this? Possible to bump up the priority because It has basically turned my streetdeck useless. I registered my copy, cleared out my library in wmp, re indexed and same thing. But now instead of listing files twice it does this on startup every time.
So now it's even worse, before I would have to go to re index my movie to create the error, now it pops up every time i start street deck and it finishes its automatic index where as before it would not find any new files.
Thanks in advance.

What version of WMP are you using. WMP 11 is best. Also if you wish to turn off auto music indexing it is the second to last option in the music settings menu.
This error might be caused by the type of music files in the library. try this process over with only files that you know are "safe" (not illegally downloaded")

I should note that Adam is not suggesting that you illegally download music, only that it's a possibility that files like that might cause issues like this.

I downloaded whichever media player was suggested in the SD FAQ I believe it may be 10? For now its helpful to disable the auto indexing but the problem is will SD know when I add new music? Because then it's not checking automatically and if i click it manually same deal 99% error and it sits there if i click ok it closes SD so its pretty annoying to say the least.
As for the type of files, all of my mp3's are ripped by myself from cds all vbr same settings across the board.
I appreciate the input guys.

Try and index your music with only one file in the collection. Do you still get the error?

I will try indexing with only 1 file now. I realized today there are some missing music that are in My Music folder that aren't indexed I guess after the error it doesnt add all music.
RedGTiVR6 the screenshot was with 1.0.9.8, I updated to 1.1.0.0 and it still gives the same exact error.

Well I think it's finally fixed. I took Adam's advice I removed all the music and readded 1 at a time, I got lucky and found which album was causing the issue fairly quickly. It seems long file names are a no-no. I had an album that the file names were very long, removed it readded all of my music and it indexed fine with no errors finally. I did notice an empty dir on my SD that when I go to the _Indexed folder the mp3's are in there though?
Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

Yes - SD moves all files into the _indexed folder.
I'll close this thread.
Solution: Issue with users files.
