Audigy 2 NX resumes from hibernation on mute
I have an Audigy 2 NX. When I go into hibernation everything works fine. When I come out of hibernation the device stays stuck on mute. If I close SD it turns back on playing my Sirius input. When I reopen SD everything is ok. What can I do for it to work on resume so I don't have to close SD. I really like having it come back from hibernation already playing music.

I have this problem to. I havent found a complete solution to it - although muting and unmuting on hibernate helps.

You could try using the kx drivers. I use it with that soundcard and it resumes fine.

I tried 6 different drivers. They all help a little, but the problem never goes away. Some would fix one thing and not the other things. All and all none of them fixed the muting issue. I think its something to do with SD. Within 10 seconds of me closing SD the sound card unmutes, but as long as SD is open it will not.

Is it a problem with just media player? StreetDeck closes and mutes all open line inputs on shutdown and reopens and unmutes them on startup. It shouldn't touch the mute state though.

Thats exactly what happens with me as well... its really ******* aggravating and I wish there was a way to fix it. To Chuck: How dose StreetDeck interface with the computers audio hardware? and have you been able to reproduce this problem?

I got so fed up with it. I spent hours trying to figure it out and just when I thought I was close to a solution another thing would happen. I just pulled out the sound blaster and went back to using onboard sound. When new updates for SD come out I will put it back in and see how nice they play.

It doesnt actually change the windows mute state - by muted i presume he means it literally doesnt output any sound.
I doubt this is an SD problem - what's happening probably is that when SD closes it's closeing (giving a kick up the backside) some audio driver lines which resets the soundcard and makes it work.

It's not a SD problem. I know this because it does it in Centrafuse too. The problem seems to occur when the the Audigy loses power before the pc has gone into hibernation (while CF is running). If the pc hibernates while the Audigy is still powered, and the Audigy is powered up before the pc fully resumes from hibernation, all seems to work well. Problem is that my 5v output to my Audigy powers down before the pc hibernates.
So I am currently struggling with this too. Right now, I have to close CF before going into Hibernation, and start it after resuming. It's a pain.

If you power your sound card based on when usb has power, it should solve your problem.
The following is how to power a USB hub until usb on the computer is switched off. The same shoudl apply to a sound card.

GOC, thanks for that, and great write-up.
Thing is, I already have a Carnetix unit with a P5V installed inside. The P5V is powering my USB hub and my Audigy card. I don't think I should have to get a 2nd P5V just to get this to work right.
With my current setup, there has to be a way to keep the USB stuff powered until the computer completes its hibernation cycle. Problem is, my pc (laptop) is set to hibernate when the AC power is removed. The trigger that removes the AC power is me turning off the ignition. Me turning off the ignition also cuts power to the USB items, but does so before the pc has a chance to hibernate. (you mentioned this as being the big problem in your write-up).
I have to figure out a way to get my USB periphs (or at least just the Audigy) to stay powered until the pc hibernates. Right now, the only way to do it is to manually hibernate the pc through Windows, wait until it is done hibernating, then shut off the engine. Lame

The link I posted should still work with the addition of another relay. Just have the power supply turn off based on the relay that is triggered by the 5V usb from the laptop. To actually turn off the laptop, install a second relay on the power cord of the laptop that will cut the power to it when the ignition goes off. So when the ignition goes off, it triggers the relay that cuts power to the laptop, the power supply stays on, but as soon as the laptop finishes hibernating and shuts off the USB ports, it goes off.
