How does Streetdeck know it is on an Infill G4, and how do I disable that?

How can I make Streetdeck on my Infill G4 not know it is on the Infill G4, and what functionality will I lose if I do so?

I know one function I will gain is the ability to manually toggle night mode via the U gesture, something that I need to be able to do on my return trip to Austin. I'll be driving on highways I never have before, and having the navigation in day mode when driving down unlit highways was very unsafe as the day mode was enough to wreck my night vision. Unfortunately due to the design of my car and the Infill G4, the automatic switching does not work.

Dunno - have you researched SD registry keys? But with their creative approach to standards (shown in inventing their own fonts) they might well hide it somewhere else

FM radio for sure, maybe something else.

When you install StreetDeck from the DVD, there is an option to load the Infill drivers and such at install time.
The only thing I can think of is uninstall StreetDeck and reinstall it without the Infill stuff.

You'd lose FM radio, as Marassa stated. GPS might not work. If the G4 has a TV Tuner, that wouldn't work. The GPS might not work. The control of the screen tilt would go bye-bye.

Why would you want SD without the Infill stuff?

There is no possible way that you can not hook the illumination wire to the parking lights wire in your car to get this function to work on the G4, but if you don't want to go through the trouble, here is a small digitalmod that might be what you are looking for.

Unfortunately I don't have a DVD to install SD from, only a restore disc that re-images the entire device.

Because with the Infill stuff, I'm blocked from manually toggling night mode on the system, and my car doesn't provide an illumination wire to after-market stereos. Without a manual toggle, the maps are always in day mode, and the screen with that much white is too bright at night when driving down roads with no street lights. I'm on vacation currently, and will be returning home later this week. Since I made a stop on the way here that I won't be making going home, I'll be taking a different route and will be relying on the navigation of the system to get me back.

Unfortunately this didn't work. It installs, but both day and night mode cause StreetDeck to respond "Not Available". Thats the same thing I see when trying to use the U gesture to switch.

Sorry, I only tested it on my dev system and it worked. I don't understand why the SD developers locked G4 users out of that option. I am on vacation and I have been on roads that require headlights on and this is another instance of needing to change the setting on the fly. You can always go into the screen brightness setting, but I don't think SD lets you do it while driving.

Well, I'm back home, but still curious how to do this for future trips. As expected, the unit was just too bright to be used at night. To get back, I used my friends Tom Tom unit, and it really exposed some other rough spots in Streetdeck. I'll be typing up something hopefully in the next week with a bunch of suggestions on things I think would greatly help StreetDeck improve.
