Its probably one of the codecs you have installed causing the problem.

Still looking for codec tips. I have the codecs listed as 'required' for SD....

FYI it doesnt do it for all vids... just certain ones.

I am having this issue on a brand new installation. Windows XP Pro SP2 installed, SD 1.1.0.0 installed before it ever even started completely.

Playing videos results in the WMP visualizations being played on screen (bouncy lines) and the video is actually in the background (alt+tab shows it) playing with a title of 'ActiveMovie'. It seems that because the visualizations are playing that the video is stuffed in another window ? How can I fix this ? The .wmv's are playing fine within the ActiveMovie window as well as directly in WMP, but not in streetdeck.

Good luck Sam... most of my problems still exist... and then some. I am really disappointed I spent the $$. SD works great when you try it for a few days... but its longevity has major problems IMO

I noticed yesterday that some videos play within streetdeck, and others play within the activemovie window... so there is something specific to each individual .wmv that it doesnt want to play right. If I have a few moments I will try to grab one of each and post them.

Howdy

Here’s a work around that worked for me install the Ffdshow DivX codec’s listed in God of CPU "StreetDeck Software Dependencies" in the StreetDeck faqs section. After that download and install the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack when installing at the "Select Components" choose the QT and Realplayer alternative option from the drop down menu then continue with installation. During the K-Lite install it may prompt you to uninstall Ffdshow say "no" to that option.

After K-Lite installation completes open Windows media player go to Tools> Options, click the "Performance" tap then "Advanced" under "Video Acceleration uncheck "Use video mixing renderer click "OK" (this tip was courtesy of a divx forum can remember which one).

This should also fix the resume on last playing feature for video.

The Ffdshow and Klite codec pack will let you pretty much play anything under the sun

I performed the above steps, however, when I go to play video, all I get is visualization. Can someone please advise?

Hmmmm.. your probably still missing a codec to play that video type. What is the file extension? and will it play outside of SD?

It's a DivX. It plays fine in WMP. Sound is perfect.
