Can streetdeck gestures be controled by a usb touchpad

if so, which models? Looking for an alternative because the screen will be mounted a bit further away and would not be able to touch the screen.

Hi Kshin86,

Yes StreetDeck can be controlled via touchpad IMO, gesturing works even better on touchpad, I rarely if ever use my touch screen. See my install pic below.

Its and Adesso touchpad picked it up from newegg works super sweet . Another nice feature of touchpad is the upper right corner emulates "right click" which I have bound to the StreetDeck toggle voice command ( I use AutoHotkeys for this to funtion). So I just tap the upper right hand corner of touchpad to activate voice commands.

The left side of touchpad used vertically acts as a "mouse wheel" and can be used to control volume or scroll up and down depending on how you set it up in StreetDeck.

You can see my complete install here

I have a PS/2 touchpad/keyboard combo in the truck and can do gestures on it, as well.
You can do them with any pointing device, really. When I'm testing stuff on my desktop inside, I do gestures using a mouse.

I have a Adesso touch pad, like yours, but I am having difficulty with it. The touchpad is not mapped pixel for pixel to the screen, which makes things difficult. In other words, if I touch in the middile of the touchpad, I would expect the mouse cursor to appear in the middile of the screen, just like normal touchscreen usage. Similairly, if I touch the touchpad on the right, the mouse should appear on the right of the screen.

However, this is not the case for me; whereever I touch the touchpad, the mouse cursor appears in the last place it was resident at. So, if the mouse was last in the lower left of the screen, and I touch the touch pad in the top center, the mouse cursor is still in the lower left. This makes the gestures difficult.

Does yours do this, or have you changed some setting that I haven't figured out?

Hi Cealric,

Funny I never noticed until you mentioned it but my touchpad does exactly the samething. I never found it an issue as this is characteristic of all touchpads (test it on a laptop with built in touchpad) as you noted they are not mapped pixel for pixel to the screen. Its become second nature for me just to drag the cursor to a convenient location for gesturing.

You should try binding toggle voice command to right click, then just tap the upper right hand corner of touchpad for voice control.

P.S

WOW the setup in your G35 coupe is AMAZING

Thanks!

Oh well, I was hoping there was a setting that would change that. I don't have a mic, so voice command isn't an issue.
